I absolutely love this song. I feel churlish to point out that Romeo and Juliet were fiction, not history. Their other hit was very similar, Like Columbus Did. That was history.

I remember listening to this song on the Juke Box while we were enjoying a Pizza in Windsor at the Napoli Pizzeria and every time I hear this song it reminds of those great old days of music and pizza. 😊❤👍

This brings me back to growing up in Passaic, NJ and dancing in the dance square at the Clifton Pool with their jukebox playing this great song in the 1960's.

This song was on the charts the same year my Mom and Dad got married. 1964! It's 4 years older than I am, but I absolutely love it! It's one of those fun, feel-good songs that just make you smile!

Funny how this is a big hit in '64 which is a holdover sound from the mid 50's to early 60's doo woppish thing made it big with the newly more modern entering sound from the 'Brittish invasion' bands like the Beatles, Animals, The Kinks, The Stones, and American bands like The lovin Spoonfull, Buffalo Springfield, and others. Those pompadour hair styles are soon on the way outs, and becoming square and outdated, for better or worse, hair cuts for Elvis types, LOL!! Robert at 68.
