I think it’s impressive you were able to hold Red for as long as you did. Defending its radio was essentially trying to defend a field from a mortar bombardment. Unless you’ve got a spare Iron Dome lying around that’s pretty much impossible. Really cool concept and fun video.

This guide was to long and the information was scattered. Formations really don't matter much except for in cqb, as long as your following basic principles like dispersion it really doesn't matter because upon contact with the enemy the formations are gonna completely change based on what's happening an the only rule your gonna follow in that moment is get to cover an don't be shot an shoot back. The most important rule to follow is this. Movement without fire is suicide. Fire without movement is a waste. Shoot, move, communicate. Or Cover fire, maneuver, communicate with your team.
@HaebyungDance

Formations in the sense discussed here are for movement not firefights. Even then the shape does not matter so much as the underlying reasons for those shapes which comes down to dispersion, fields of fire, and command and control. I do not see anything that contradicts anything in the video.

To keep it short an simple. 1.Video to long. 2.Information was scattered instead of concise. Either way teams don't win battles based on their formations, they win battles based on how well they can shoot move an communicate so I think your to focused on the basics of basics which is formations instead of the meat and potatoes of combat.

Video length I’ll accept because there’s always things to improve in script and editing. This isn’t a guide for combat, or the important factors in winning. It’s a specific dive into formations and what they as tools are meant to accomplish. So I do not follow this line of criticism. Firefight dynamics are covered elsewhere.

difference is people don't scroll through Google like KZbin shorts an videos so unless you give someone the idea to look this stuff up they're not gonna think about the options they have available either way why would you wanna advertise this stuff except to your private teams, it just means anyone else you come into contact with is gonna be more strategic an harder to kill.

I think that pointing out the "be creative" part is the big key to succeed. Most of the already existing military concepts of an attack are already merged in the minds of many experienced SL. The thing in coordinating attacks in squad is the availability of infantry squads. Got to call them very early before attempting something together. And every map have its own strategies.

With random folks, have a couple of friction points with them (not their fault! They haven’t done this before). The first one is once we make contact with the enemy, I give them a direction, description, a rough range, and the assignment and control. I genuinely try to focus my attention on the AR and the grenadier for assignment and control. The description portion is very important so my guys have an idea where the target is. However, even after the description, if they do not see the target, then they will not shoot. If they do shoot and get the targets to take cover, they’ll stop shooting and allow the targets to reengage us. The second common problem is moving together. For the moments we do keep fires on the terrain feature the enemy is using, lots of folks go their own way. There isn’t any time to explain how to move. I end up using local chat and talking to the guy next to me and we move together. But most of the time the squad ends up dissipating and so does our fires. It’s worked out a few times as I have a few videos on moving as a team but most of the time people go their own way.

Because this is squad as a whole. This is how the squad community works. People think theyll come here for a proper cohesive team effort, but usually see solo gameplay, but just in a group with other solos.... What dance is saying here DOES work, but only with cohesive units, and that, is a unicorn in squad....

Squad44 has a LOOT of features regular squad still misses. Like, well modelled tanks with all the periscopes usable, you can even peak from the hatch. Weapon resting, backup irons, gore, weapon resting, revival cap, better rally system, better fob system better squad system with dedicated logistics etc.

Hey Dance, I wanted to say thanks for the instructional videos. I am part of a group in Squad 44 that participates in events that uses a mod called Post Scriptum Realism Mod (PSRM) that limits the amount of information available such as not being able to see friendly players are outside of local chat. For a squad size element, how does the approach change in the use of tactics when it takes longer to identify friendlies and have limited radio communication with other squads?
@HaebyungDance
@HaebyungDance 4 күн бұрын
Hey! First off what’s your groups name? That sounds really great. I think in the scenario you described you are able to use tactics and techniques more similar to originally intended. Planning is more important I think (to synchronize) but also individual initiative among squad leaders (for when things go wrong or unexpected opportunities arise.)

@HaebyungDance Hey Dance, I appreciate the information. I will try to keep that in mind. The group I am a part of is called the 272 Volksgrenadier Division. I am trying to create a lesson plan to start to address the idea of fire and maneuver from a video you covered in an earlier video. It's been a lot of fun and a bit of a challenge to figure out how to do this from scratch with about 9 other people.

I think a big part of the "movement to contact" conversation people love to overlook is failure. A big part of what makes the initial L shape better than the 3 pronged attack discussed in the video is that it can respond to your main body or any other body experiencing a hemorrhage in the line or a mass casualty event. A major part of every plan that should be considered (and often isn't in squad) is what happens when something goes wrong. Adaptability is what wins games, I think, and half of that equation is dealing with failures, whether it be your own or another squads. Not enough people consider "what happens when the defense squad gets owned" or "what happens when our MBT gets HAT'ed?" and it creates those major failures that lose games.

Just do this: Hot take, surround an objective and let the enemy take it fully, and keep them confined in there while you kill with your main force all the enemy spawns, you got in the least -20 tickets from a radio, and now you take it back from all sides, and get your +60 free tickets.

Awesome video, man! Your stuff on Squad takes me back to my short but very involved time in Planetside 2, around a decade or so ago, when the game still had a big playerbase. I was a part of a lot of multiple platoon operations that took the coordinated approach while most randoms - the zerg as they were aptly nicknamed - charged in a straight line to objectives. Squad gives me a similar feeling, but nothing will quite be like seeing squadrons of aircraft flying overhead while whole convoys of armor and support vehicles fight alongside dozens of infantry. Combined arms tactics when everyone's on the same page is a thing of beauty.
