Thank you for this valuable information. Perhaps you can post something about which transportation modes (private and public buses, trams and trains) can accommodate people in wheelchairs and personal luggage - either on board with you or in the underbelly or other luggage compartment. How easy is it for someone in a wheelchair to get on and off the various types of transit with or while seated in their wheelchair?

How do you tag off when using the leap card on intercity trains such as from Dublin Heuston to Athlone?
@DeeptiKulkarni_11 күн бұрын
You have to buy tickets for this in advance for long distance travel and you cannot use leap cards. When you have brought the tickets you can scan the bar code on the entry barrier gates.

Hi Deepti - I recall as a child that the best part of a traditional Dublin and Irish Christmas is Henry St and Moore St, also Dublin’s Liberties and I was really not “gone on” Grafton St, as my extended family on my Dad’s side were from the Liberties - also North of the Liffey was the Dominican friars Moving Crib on Parnell Square/Parnell St - most of my extended family in Ireland have family friends who are Catholic Priests, Friars and Nuns, such as the Franciscan Friars and the Poor Clare Sisters, of whom I’m friends with Sr Brigid and Sr Carmel of the Poor Clares in Dublin, in their enclosed Monastery near the RDS on Simmonscourt Rd - as a child we used to live in Rural Ireland so we used to get the Expressway Coach into Dublin Busaras and we would visit Arnotts and Clery’s alike (it’s such a shame that Clerys is closed down, as it was an iconic part of Dublin) as my aunt also used to live in Cork St in Dublin’s Liberties and would meet us off the coach at Busaras in her car during the 1970’s & 1980’s

It’s very interesting to know how Dublin was in the 90’s. Were there public buses too ? If yes how they looked ?
@michaeljohndennis223111 күн бұрын
@ the buses in Dublin at that time were in general terms very uncomfortable, due to the roads in Dublin being full of potholes even worse than Cavan, especially on Dublin’s Quays - the old CIE and later Bus Éireann Expressway Coaches from Navan & Dunshaughlin into Busaras were marginally more comfortable back then, but bus drivers then were incredibly rude and ignorant towards customers and very unprofessional - we used to have a regular driver from Cavan going through Dunshaughlin and my Mum never got on with him at all, she always said that he was very rude and ignorant

Happy Christmas to you and your family, Deepthi - we have something similar to this at Heaton Park here in Manchester, as especially since Covid, last minute delays and cancellations across all forms of travel between the U.K. and Ireland, in addition to the greatly increased costs involved, in some cases by as much as 50%, make it incredibly difficult and problematic, if not virtually impossible, to get home to Ireland for Christmas, in my 30 years working in supermarket retailing here in Manchester 🇮🇪☘️🇬🇧😍🙏❤️

@DeeptiKulkarni_Ай бұрын
You cannot make contactless payment using credit or debit card in bus, luas or dart but you can buy tickets for luas or dart using credit or debit card from the ticket machine before getting into them. For bus you can only use coins to buy tickets. Unfortunately you cannot use credit or debit card to buy tickets for bus.

6:49 The National Museum of Ireland (LUAS) has an excellent outline of the 1916 Easter Rising, even though there is a paid expo in the GPO, but with the former, you get a better context of our Irish history and it is also free admission - as an Irish Catholic patriot myself, it really annoys me that visitors to our country are being constantly ripped off, especially when in Dublin and I usually advise visitors of better and cheaper alternatives

2:58 Are Leap Cards valid on Bus Éireann services? My family live in Dunshaughlin, Co Meath so I’d be getting the Coach from Dublin Busaras on the 109 Navan/Kells/Cavan route and those fares are not cheap - I was thinking of buying those tickets in advance online before I leave the U.K. on Bus Éireann’s website or buying a 10 journey ticket - the LEAP card is good for using Dublin Bus, LUAS and the DART though

Hi Deepti - being Irish and living in Manchester U.K. myself, I agree with this - coming home to Ireland on SailRail from Holyhead via Irish Ferries, getting to and from Dublin Port into the City Centre is a nightmare, there is very limited onward travel options from the port on arrival from Holyhead at 05.55 and when getting taxis from the City Centre on the return trip to get the 20.55 sailing to Holyhead on Irish Ferries, because of limited mobile coverage around the Port area, most taxi drivers can’t use their satnavs to find the Irish Ferries terminal - Nolan’s Coaches and the Dublin Bus 53 service seem to be the only ways to get to and from the port, but the last time I came home in October 2022, Nolan’s Coaches made a very poorly communicated change of bus stop within Dublin City Centre, which caused huge problems for me during a U.K. rail strike on my return trip from Dublin, resulting in my being stranded in Holyhead for 2 days, unable to return to Manchester, as I was unable to get an earlier sailing that morning, even with Stena, because of bad weather on the Irish Sea - had I known in advance, I would have got a taxi to the port or got down to where the new stop was
