Que buena recopilación sobre el cetrero Álvaro Torres Barreto. Los pocos que nos interesamos por este arte en aquellos años mucho aprendimos de él.

I've done the same with a peregrine/prairie falcon hybrid. This was in the 80's She flew at 850 grams. 'Elvira' would take crows at dusk from the crow roosts. The main danger was her possibly flying in pursuit of a crow and having her catch it in unusual circumstances. Under farm equipment, right next to a power substation, and being mobbed by the other crows. She would shield herself with her wings. Hiding her head. Looking like a 'cone' in the field with other crows mobbing her. My favorite area was the local pre-civil war cemetery. Where she would stay in the area safely. And we would enjoy our time together in the peaceful historical cemetery, as she fed up on her crow kill and I would eat my dinner I bought at the local fast food restaurant prior to flying her.

The beginning of the video was spectacular. The whole video was just too long to watch it one sitting, I'll probably watch the rest of it at another time. 😎📹👍

There is no better wildlife artist in the world! Vadim depicts the world where animals and humans intersect. His soul is as beautiful as his paintings. He truly is "мастер анималистического искусства".

Fantastic, thank you so much for this. Growing up in the Zimbabwe Falconry Club, knowing some of the people but all of the names, it is fascinating to learn and understand the foundation they made for those to follow and what we should all be doing to continue the heritage.

Dylan and FHT, thank you for that wonderful speech, it was extremely interesting and informative. I was especially interested because I had the pleasure, for a few days, of being a host to Ron Hartley when he undertook a trip to the U.S. At the time I worked for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service's Denver Wildlife Research Center in Lakewood, Colorado as a raptor biologist. Ron gave a speech about his work and life to my fellow scientists. As an aside, I think every female secretary and female scientist there attended his talk owing to Ron's enchanting accent! I knew just about everything you said in your speech because Ron told me the very same things. I even know the significance of the figure on your tie because Ron gave me a sliver pin of that Zimbabwean falcon figure as well a 4 different colored pins of the ZFA for a collection I am making to give to the Archives of Falconry. The loss of Ron is very tragic, he is missed.
