1.6 must be a base engine I see some came with a 2.0 litre too and a V6 Hard to beat these Alfas with the old 105 115 type engines Valves are a little noisy, do an oil change with an additive LOVE that FIAT COUPE next to the Alfa, owned one back in 2003 in Brasil GREAT CAR ! FIAT badged ALFA !

Hi neil don't know if you reply to old videos about this Alfa Romeo mito. I bought one recently from time to time the check engine light comes up and it's always the same error P0244 Wastegate Solenoid Valve A error. I've been to a few shops and changed the solenoid (they told me the old one was in good shape). But the check engine still comes up when i try to drive a little aggressively for brief periods. They told me all the turbo components and the car is at 100% level of functionality but this still bothers me because if it comes up i need to go to a shop and turn off the check engine light. Also while the light is on, the car goes in recovery mode and is really slow to drive like it was a 1.2 Fire Punto engine from 00s. Have you ever tackled this issue? If so let me know, I don't know what else i need to do to find an answer to this problem. Either way thank you so much for the content you put us trough it's fun to know about that italian cars are still so much an object of passion and these videos are really informative. Sorry for my bad English, it' not my first language. Un saluto dall'italia e un abbraccio ancora più forte da Napoli!

Great set of videos which I'm watching eagerly as I've got a 36-year-old Mk3 Cavalier to revive which has been off the road for 20 years - but not kept in a field! I hope Dougie at Once Driven Forever Smitten sees this. You mention the front subframe and the lower wishbone arms. I believe the rear of the lower arm bolts into a captive nut welded to the inside of the floorpan box section. If this captive nut snaps off you are into a bit of a world of pain where some end up freeing it by cutting open the floorpan inside the car! Plenty of releasing fluid early on (or heat) might be on the menu.

Hi thanks for watching. should be another video out on it in a few weeks.

@@ItaliaAutos You mentioned the wet floor under the carpet. You probably know the rubber "elephant trunk" scuttle drain in the centre of engine bay above steering rack needs pulling off and cleaning out. If blocked the scuttle fills up with water and it overflows inside the car via interior fan area. Also at each end of scuttle there is a seam where the bulkhead meets the inner wing which splits with age.

Had the same problem on my Chevrolet lacetti 1.4 were the rubber on the thrust bearing had completely disintegrated no longer holding clutch fluid. Never changed a clutch b4 but changed plenty of belts water pumps and cylinder heads, valves and so on. Nightmare i can see why you have to pay a garage for the work involved drive shafts out gear box oil dropped, starter motor out, dropping the gearbox though and getting it back on the spline was tough.

Had the 147 and the water pump failed after 30k miles coming home on the M6 one day, it had been bought from a dealer in Preston not a year b4, no warranty nothing with finance still owed. Never learned my lesson either bought a fiat bravo after this and things only got worse, Italian reliability is just awful always liked the 156 though the way it looked and theres not many about now. Hope you managed to save it.

Hello Neil, my name is Ignacio, I´m from Argentina and I enjoy watching you give this old alfas a second opportunity. I have a problem. The oil sump pan from my alfa romeo 145 1.8 twin spark engine is cracked and I need to remove it. I am not in condition to pay someone to do it for me so I have to do it on my own. Could you please explain me a little a step by step what do I have to remove in order to take it down ? Thank you very much in advance.

for me it is unacceptable to expose all sort of mechanical bits, brake lines, exhaust pipe and etc. to harsh elements of nature. the underside of any car must have a proper insulation.

the driver seat (inc bolster) on my 2010 Accord had barely any wear after 100K miles (when i bought it in 2022). might have something to do with the prev owner (from new) being a slightly built 60 ish year old lady.

Hi Niel, happy new year and get well soon. Looking forward to see all your project on that channel. The reorganisation of your workshop sounds great and is gaining some extra space too. You'd think a car with less than 20K miles on it would have been diagnosed and fixed 7 years ago. I guess the owner had another car to drive, and didn't care or didn't want to spend money on a proper diagnostic? Or perhaps the previous mechanic who owned the shop (garage) got the car from an auction, or some other way, and was busy and just never got around to it?. What's worrisome is the quality of a vehicle which has a MAF sensor go bad so quickly (unless the original owner drove in dusty conditions and never replaced the air filter, which can cause MAF problems if the MAF sensor isn't simply bad quality. My 21 year-old Toyota Corolla with 445K miles still has the original MAF sensor.
