While I was riding my blue suzuki en125, I saw a blue suzuki vstrom 800de (the one with spoked wheels and 21 inch front tire) on the opposite side of the road. The front looks good to me, but why did they still have 17 inch rear wheel instead of 18 inch rear wheel?😅
@TheBeardedGrump11 сағат бұрын
I don't know why they have a 17 inch rear wheel. It would have made more sense to go to an 18

@TheBeardedGrump I remember last year one of your bike choices before you picked the ktm was the kawasaki klr 650. Last december 2024, it was launched here in Philippines. Slightly cheaper than versys 650.
@TheBeardedGrump9 сағат бұрын
@jululugz2893 I like the klr but just not enough power for me. I would definitely pick it over the versys

And after the vstrom 800de was launched here, the vstrom 650 (one with spoked wheels) is now discontinued.

Hey quick question had this in my cart and see theres a pro model here too of this unit. Tryin to find out if these things will show the speedometer in like Gaia maps or google maps ? You know if so off hand?
@TheBeardedGrump21 сағат бұрын
This one shows it in Google maps sometimes but if your phone normally shows it in the app then this unit will. I hope that makes sense.
@jaybourbon860821 сағат бұрын
@TheBeardedGrump my android Samsung phone shows the speed in Google maps on the phone but I have no experience with Gaia maps or on x offroad. You recall seeing the speed on the gaia? I may just download Gaia on my phone right quick and see but just hoping it will work in this unit. You got the pro of this model or the prior one? You got a link for your page to the pro so I can get you the kickback? Think yours is the regular 702?
@TheBeardedGrump20 сағат бұрын
@jaybourbon8608 GAIA doesn't show the speed on the phone. I have use the free version of the app so I can't say if the paid version does or not. The Carpuride just mirrors the apps on your phone. I have the standard version W702. Here is my Amazon affiliate link for the W702 pro. amzn.to/3C2DnHc

Regarding liking diverse riding (other than the mountains). Yeah, I love being in the mountains more than anything, but they are becoming too crowded-sometimes it’s like Disney World. Riding in the midlands and lowcountry is better in that regard-especially for anti-social people like me, lol.
@TheBeardedGrump3 күн бұрын
We like the mountains too but like you said the solitude in other areas is nice. I'm always searching for different and non-popular areas and routes to ride. Keeps the channel more interesting I think and keeps me interesting too.

Another great video brother-man. Can't wait to see the 2nd part to see what you two get into in Savannah. I love that place. My wife, her mother and her 105 year old grandmother vacation there every other year. We switch out between Savannah and St. Augustine for her Grandmother who loves both places. Also, The food looked awesome!!! Nothing better than eating in the great outdoors on a moto camping trip. It looks like Chef Timmy cooked a good-looking meal over a charcoal fire. As for ridding on straight roads. It doesn't matter to me. As long as I'm riding. I don't care if it's straight, hilly, curvy or what. I just love ridding. LOL. Until our paths cross. Be safe out there.

@CountryBoy10694 күн бұрын
@@TheBeardedGrump If you and your wife do go to St. Augustine. You have to go eat at two places. One is a place called the KingFish Grill. It's right before you go over the bridge to the Ocean and hidden behind this Motel called. The INN at Camache Harbor. Trust me. You will not be disappointed. Their menu is pretty diverse and it's not that expensive. Their Louisiana Fettucine grilled chicken Alfredo and their NY strip steak are freaking awesome. The second place is a Fancy restaurant called Columbia and it's not that expensive either, but you have to make reservations there because It's in the old historic part of town. If you go there. You have to get their 1905 house salad. I would have never thought (Worcestershire) or Wash your sister sauce as I call it because I'm Country as fu(k and can't pronounce it lol.... would be good mixed into a salad, but it is. If you go at lunch time. Their Curt's Meatloaf sandwich or their Palomilla steak sandwich is freaking mouth watering. Well...Hell.... I'm hungry now. Heading to the kitchen. Be safe.

Hey bud great video. You got me sold on this. You got a link I can use where you get a kickback on Amazon for this? I gota ask. I was looking for a 990 for a long time, and finally settled for the 2015 1290 super Adventure. Love the bike but it's just a little big and bulky for how I ride, and I'm still on the fence if I should have waited to find a 990.y question is. Have you ridden the 15 and 16 1290? What's your opinion between the 1290 and the 990? Seems from my research without riding the 990 they are a lot more easier to control offroad, and you can whip them around more easily. I like to ride aggressively, and while I can ride this 1290 pretty hard. I feel like it's just too big and heavy to really get in that zone, and also I'm the event this thing ever drops. It's a lot more money to repair or fix it. I don't have any local KTM dealer near me so I'm always concerned about having to deal with any ecu or electrical issues because KTM has a lock down on their software. I can't even get anyone to lower the TPMS sensor warning from 35 psi, and I'm running your tire reccomendations for the Motoz and these tires just don't feel as good at high pressure as they do at lower PSI. Love the tires but having to run mud at high tire pressure sucks and I work on all my own stuff so just being limited to have to stick to anything like that really bothers me, so I torn between this bike which I've put a lot of money and hours preparing, and a 990. Most of these 990s have 30k on them and my 1290 is only at 13k and the thing is 100% mechanically sound at this point which took me almost a year with the upgrades and maintenance to get too. Can't afford to keep it any buy another, but man seeing you tear that 990 up really makes me want one of them. So thoughts on that and also what year 990 would you shoot for? Is there any years of the 990 you would stay away from, and what about 30k miles on these things? Wish I could find a decent price on one that had lower miles. Appreciate your time buddy.
@TheBeardedGrump6 күн бұрын
I haven't ridden any other KTM besides the 990. I will say the 990 feels and rides like a big dirt bike. It's the funniest big bike I've ever ridden. Mine has almost 30k miles on it now and I don't worry about it at all. The LC8 is a great motor and I've heard of people getting over a 100k without major issues. I would look for 2010-12 Adventure R because they had them sorted out by then and they don't have abs which means less stuff to fail. Here's an Amazon affiliate link for the Carpuride amzn.to/4iYG2m3
@jaybourbon86086 күн бұрын
Right on buddy appreciate the response. Found a loaded 2012 990 r with 5k in Recepts for 7500 but it's got 26k on it. Feel like I couldn't spend over 5500 for something that old. Thoughts? Ktms are at a all time low you can get a 1290 in the northern Midwest for that price now but these dam 990s are hard to find at a decent price. Again none of them under 25k miles and I've never bought a bike over 15k cause the resale is super hard when they hit 20k miles. Might have to sit on this 1290 but man I'm worried we are gonna lose support with this thing ktm is going through right now. Got one dealer here and they won't lower my tpms pressure so I can even get these tires down below 35psi. I'll definitely click the link when I buy the screen so you get credit. @@TheBeardedGrump
@TheBeardedGrump5 күн бұрын
@jaybourbon8608 The 990 is a bike that has a following so unfortunately it's hard to find them in good shape under 7k in the US. I wouldn't worry about any of them having 25k miles. I can understand not wanting to sell a newer bike for an older one. In my opinion the 990 is the best adv bike KTM has ever built and ever will. Hopefully I'll be able to keep mine for a long time. Thanks for using the link. Every little bit helps. 👊
