If you watched the first 3 episodes you can skip to the 35 minute mark to see how and why the trip ended. There are some clips throughout the video that weren't in the previous episodes.

Great video Gump. I hear what you're saying about motivation sometimes. I'm older and newly retired and my wife isn't wild about me being gone on long bike trips. Gotta find some balance somehow. Keep up the vids, if you're up to it.

Great video, as always. My wife will never ride so I am always feeling guilty a smudge. I should be working on the house. However it helps my mental health to go out for my weekend day trips and sit at the CPU editing with a beer. That is some nice looking country on the east side. Different from the PNW.
@TheBeardedGrump3 ай бұрын
Thanks. I agree with you on it being a mental health break. I just got to get it out of my head that I'm being selfish because my wife encourages me to go on these trips and likes to see me happy.

@TheBeardedGrump it is, as you know. I've ridden by myself far more than with a cohort and I've seen some of the most beautiful places this Country has to offer but sometimes the freedom of being alone turns into the biggest source of my anxiety and depression. I've got all kinds of tools that are supposed to help shift my focus away from it, but they don't always work. I left a big ride earlier this year because it just felt wrong being away from family. I called it a "tactical retreat" simply because I needed them with me, and I needed them to see what is out there. Logistically, it isn't feasible for them to ride with me but we are working on a solution. The majority of the roads and trails I ride intersect with more 4 wheel passable routes. Wiith a little practice, my wife and kids can get out there in a different mode of transportation where we can explore. Keep the positive mental attitude, bro! We've got this...one step at a time!

@@perrysteed4069 Love this "solution"! Most of our friends who we'd like to share adventures with don't ride, or don't ride off-road. I love planning trips where we can all go, and intersect with each other along the route (on pavement sections and at meal stops). I don't get to plan these types of trips often, but when I do, I feel like we all "win" it just takes A LOT of planning and communication throughout the day....

I live right on the edge of this new BDR route (north Atlanta suburbs) and been cruising this area for YEARS. Now, after watching the full Chattahoochee BDR-X documentary, I'm seriously considering replacing an "extra" seldom ridden cruiser we have for an ADV. Been riding decades, but first ADV. Any suggestions? Leaning toward a V-Strom 650 right now.
@TheBeardedGrump6 күн бұрын
My first adv bike was a V-strom 650. I took that bike into places most people wouldn't and loved it. You can't go wrong with a V-strom. Especially if you're just getting into adv riding. There's a good bit of content on here of me and my brother riding our V-stroms on all types of terrain.

You did great, don’t sweat stuff like that. I’ve felt guilt like that too when I’m in the woods and the lovely wife was at home. But she knows I’m living the fullest life possible. It is what it is. Sometimes I get a vibe when I know when to say when. Rock on, hammer it.
@TheBeardedGrump3 ай бұрын
Thanks man. My life doesn't mind me going so my guilt is all self inflicted. I have had a lot of changes in my life this year and I just have to find the best way to deal with those changes.👊

Yeah man, maybe you’re trying too hard with the KZbin. Just let it happen. I’ve been watching since the beginning. I suffer from anxiety and depression and it was totally life consuming. So you’re doing fantastic just to be Greg doing Greg. Lucky my anxiety and depression are in remission so to speak. You’re really a superstar for anyone with depression and anxiety. I know it’s the hardest thing ever. When you’re on your bike in the works you’re kicking its ass.

@@scottsand69 this was the one time that I let making a video make the decision to go on a ride and that won't happen again. Anxiety and depression is a pain in the butt and certain life things happening doesn't make it any better. I'm glad to hear you are in a better place with yours. I'm slowly getting there I just have to kick a few more things in the rear and hopefully I'll be in a better place too

I get bad cramps in my left hamstring and calf. Every time I dab my calf locks up. Really sucks. My Dr. advised me to drink pickle juice. I think it helps but not sure.

I had clave pains ever since I've had surgery and the cramps started a couple of months ago. I would try the pickle juice but I can't stand pickles so I would probably throw up lol

Great idea including the wife. How about she carries the gear in the car and you plan your stops then she is waiting for you at the next spot.
@TheBeardedGrump3 ай бұрын
I don't think she would go for that plan lol. I've been working on some things for me and her to be able to spend more time together. Hopefully it will all pan out.

I ride solo, but not by choice. I've become use to it and I travel a lot of back gravel roads that probably don't see a vehicle of any kind on it for a couple of days at a time. My wife put a gps tracker on my bike so she can at least find the bike if I go missing. She's not said anything about trying to find me.... (nervous laugh on my part).
@TheBeardedGrump3 ай бұрын
I don't mind riding solo but since my crash last year I've been a little bit reluctant about riding solo but I'm slowly getting over that. Camping solo isn't that fun though. It's nice to have someone to talk to while sitting around the fire. At least your wife will have a bike if you go missing lol. JK

you'll figure out the camping with the wife dude, when stuff becomes a job it isn't fun anymore, i've had that with stuff also....it plays hell on your head......you should probably be out riding and not filming eery time...just take the time to enjoy it, i have a 360 camera, just for myself, i constantly forget to put it on the bike because after working all week, i consider my bike as the escape....

sounds like you ya'll need to figure out a route for the bike and meet up at a camp ground somewhere, instead of dispearse camping? you'll figure it out man....

I don't like planning too much because it takes away from the adventure aspect of it for me. I just wasn't in the right mindset on this trip and made the decision to ride pretty much just because of KZbin and that's not a good way of doing things. Plus I've been having some personal stuff going on in my life which also didn't help with my motivation. I'll figure it all out and be back to my normal self before too long and be back really hammering the shit out of it 👊
