Hey! Just wanted to say thank you for this video! Between you and BSK Garage's video series, this novice was able to completely rebuild my front diff! Went out moose hunting here in AK and put about 50-60 miles on the rig and it worked perfectly! The biggest tip you gave, don't be in a hurry. I ran into a couple snags along the way and that piece of advice was invaluable. Thank you for helping me save a lot of money!

I feel like I am the only person who has noticed this but if you put the clutch friction plates with the j.i facing up the plates are different 2 are directionally one way and the other 3 are opposite

Are there torque specs for the left crankcase cover? Or is it just tighten till tight?
@LightningMotorsportsAZ6 ай бұрын
You can reference the manual for those torque specs if you would like. "Snug and a nudge" should be fine for a case cover.

There is confusion as to which end is compression adjust and which is rebound. You actually called compression at the top of the fork (handlebar end) and then referred to the distance collar that top screw interacts with the rebound rod. Another KZbin video the guy indicates rebound on top and compression on the bottom. Any clarification would be helpful.

I would have taken the header off to give you easier access. They come off pretty easy, 6 nuts on the engine where the header attaches and two bolts by the rear peg that holds the back of the header up. You will have to replace the header gaskets, they're cheap.

My 1997 Valkyrie has 117k miles on it and the clutch doesn't slip but the "friction zone" is non-existant. The clutch has to be almost all of the way released to start engaging. I'm debating replacing the clutch or scrapping the bike. IDK

@LightningMotorsportsAZ8 ай бұрын
I can't speak for other shops but I know this job is fairly quick/easy. You can save money if you remove the forks and bring them to a tech/shop instead of the entire bike. You can ship me your forks and I'll rebuild them for you if you can't find anyone

At 0:44 the two halves of the crankcase are shown nice and clean with the kick starter and gear changer installed. Did you leave these in during disassembly and clean them in place?
@LightningMotorsportsAZ8 ай бұрын
I left both assemblies installed in the case half and inspected/tested/cleaned in place. Obviously, you can remove them if you would like to but I've had no problem leaving them in place.

Hi there Thanks for checking out my video. I used permatex ultra grey for mating the cases and covers on this bike. I use permatex Motoseal for anything fuel related. Some folks will suggest Hondabond, Yamabond, and three bond. I've used all of them and they all seem to work for me. Good luck with your build.
