Everything looks so prosperous and well cared for. Loads of buses running when public transport was still State owned. No-one homeless and having to beg in the street, everyone well dressed. It's a real pity how some people's greed has been allowed to destroy the country.

Hard to believe that Northumberland street was the A1 , Grey's monument was a roundabout and traffic flowed without any problems . Look at the state of it now , it's literally impossible to get from one end of the city to the other ..!!

Newcastle was such a great city with phenomenal nightlife in the 60s,70s,80,90s and noughties however like the rest of the UK it turned into what it is today , a one night city deteriorating at an ever increasing rate I was fortunate to experience all the good times it offered and while we may have more wealth, highly advanced technology and greater travel opportunities nowadays we didnt have the social division , level of crime or drug use nor the ludicrous level of wokeness that has come in the last 20 years all of which has contributed into making the UK such a toxic country

Yeah, the nightlife in the late 70s & 80s was great. I can't even remember them ever having bouncers on the door then. The Bigg Market was always packed, and in The Lowther, we were like sardines, and if the crowd moved, you had to move with it.😅

I was 10 in 1968, born in a cold prefab on a pit estate. It’s a pity what unfettered immigration, the disintegration of the family, bad parenting, the poor teaching of our rich history, narcissism and lack of work ethic has done to our country. We will be dead before this gets really bad. I’m gay - all my family are gone and thankfully don’t have any kids to worry about but I still worry about what will happen to my country when I’m gone. I’m sorry for those who have children and grandchildren.
