My Clan are Geordies. My dear mother worked in Robert Sinclair tobbaco ware house on Westgate road 1946-49. Her Father was a Railwayman at the central station then too. This is the everday sights they will have saw. I miss both of them still. Thanks for this wonderfull video. God bless Newcastle and all our people.

Very evocative film with nice extended shots of streetlife. I wonder how this was made. Was the camera mounted on a car. It seems to weave in and out of thetraffic with ease.

Fascinating footage. Interesting to note how filthy so many of the buildings were from air pollution. The Clean Air Act didn't come into force until the 1950s. Everyday life, particularly in factory work, was an awful lot dirtier than today too and people were rather less scrupulous about hygiene. Many had baths once a week and that was it.

People were tougher and resilient in those days. Now everyone has an allergy and some sort of gender confusion.

The women's fashions certainly look postwar, but surprisingly, there doesn't appear to be even one postwar vehicle. 1946, maybe?

You some kind of troll or something? Or just blind? The buildings in this video are utterly filthy from all the air pollution. The country was still a wreck from the war.
