Ya, the engineering standard for some parts of the freeway system are ancient... Fortunate enough, traffic was light at the time and I didn't need to worry about exiting traffic.
@thevultrantransituniverse14872 ай бұрын
I highly believe the best and most reliable way to get from Toronto to New York City is by taking the NY State thruway all the way from I290 straight down to the Bronx via Albany because the benefit of having tolls and fewer exits on the thruway is to ensure a faster and safe drive.
@BigCorgisGTJourneys2 ай бұрын
No doubt about that. I was just a driver plus facilitator that day, and my friend made the call. 😉

Not true at all. Defensive driving is exactly this. Paying attention and anticipating someone else to do some stupid shit.

why do people speed up when you go to pass them, it's such a strange phenomenon of the human psyche
@BigCorgisGTJourneys4 ай бұрын
Too bad this isn't Europe. Those who want to go a little quicker can't do it in the passing lanes properly because the lanes are too crowded with people not too keen on passing. Then, what ought to be the default lane (i.e. the right-most lane) is always underused.

If I were you I’d still continue along A20 to downtown Montreal. The A30 toll is still way cheaper than the 407.

Did not realised the bridge is actually a toll road. Saw red colour on Google Maps near the booth and I thought it was directing me to avoid the "congestion".

Yes, I had a passenger who require visa services. We were asked to leave the car key with the officers and wait in the waiting area for service. The office was understaffed at that time and the whole process took around an hour.

im in hamilton, and have done the trip to ottawa several times, both by 416 and by highway 7, and for the first time , i did highway 7 both ways last time with my wife for a 5 year wedding anniversary in november of 2019 and , prior to that i did it in august of 2007 by 416 both ways, hands down, i find highway 7 far better much less stressful same amount of time as doing the 416, give or take an extra 15 minutes, and far more fuel efficient. filled up in hamilton before i left, got all the way to ottawa on 1 tank, then topped up again on our way home stopping to fill up in perth, great trip no traffic issues, and since one already has to take the 401 to go to montreal and the laurentians, tremblant, etc., its nice to change up the route

You are absoutely right about the cell phone lot and there really is no point stopping in the pick-up area. If you look closely in the video, you will also see a tow truck (with flashing yellow lights) towing a car away.

The video is sped up, otherwise it might be too boring to watch. If you are asking why we had drive fast and keep passing slower vehicles, that was because this is just part of a longer 4-day one-way joruney from west to east covering 3,800 km. This Day 14 in particular was a 1,030 km leg. 🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗
