You suck bro you should have never counted any of those books in diamonds I would’ve only counted 3 on that first hand the only way you got home is cause buddy smacked your shit with the queen of spades and opened you up a little bit in spades to where you could move the ace and get your jack of spades off and your partner pretty much got the books you didn’t

Spades is a game of risks vs rewards. From the 3rd seat you should have bid 9. There is very little risks bidding 9 even. if your partner can't get 1. Bidding 11 has a lot of risks.
@jennadams65883 жыл бұрын
What is a set? You said don’t let that seven walk, what was the “set”you were going for?
@coreyadams19823 жыл бұрын
A set is when the opponents don't make their bid. It is the worse thing that can happen in spades. If the opponents bid 6 and get 6 they get 60 points. If they don't get 6 they lose 60 points.
@Six3rdy5 ай бұрын
Yeah, Corey Adams pointed it out good. To add on, man's in the video was trying to have himself and his partner play in a way that sets the opponents (meaning prevents them from making their bid and consequently losing points; losing points in spades means you have to work _that_ much harder to catch up, like falling behind in a race). The guy's qualm was that his partner wasn't playing aggressively enough to set the opps, when she had the opportunity to take a book and keep the opps from making their bid.

I'm sorry to say this but I don't know why he bid 11 that last one. You beat yourself with that bid. That's 9 bids all day for me. 8 would be underbidding. 10 is unlikely but possible. 11 is a miracle

question. at 2:38 you say she was supposed to take that book but i think she didn't take it because she was already over her books 5/3 so she didn't want any bags. How was she supposed to know not to do that and go for the set instead? im learning
@TheKos2Kos3 жыл бұрын
I agree with the KZbin guy. The game is only to 200 points with a 10 bag penalty. It's so rare to get 10 bags with only a 200 point game. So bags are just extra good points to me. The shorter the game, then the less the 10 bag penalty matters. For instance, in the 100 points to win games, the team with more bags wins close games since they can win by 1 or 2 points. It's good strategy so you dont have to win by a whole book. Say that you are down 52 to 70 in a 100 point to win game. They bid 5 so you need to bid 8 if you want to win 132 to 120. Since you have the two bags you can just bid 7 so you can win 123 to 120. So if you can set someone by takin 3 extra bags, you better unless you are playing to 500 points. Regardless bid the number of 10 point books that you think is likely, but bags can win close games. It's obviously not good strategy to just win by getting 1 point bags on purpose every time. Make sense ? Or do you disagree ?
@coreyadams19823 жыл бұрын
The bag penalty is when you get 10 bags. Since the games are only to 200 points you can easily avoid 10 bags. Every hand you should be playing to set since the bag really don't matter.
@Six3rdy5 ай бұрын
I think both sides are valid, but I think that the dude in the video (while he could've been a tad chiller about it) did have a point. The reason why is because (to sum up what everyone else in this thread is saying concisely) the chance to set the opponents is worth the extra bags. And in a game to 200 points, you'll likely win the friggin' game _long_ before the bag penalty gets applied. So it makes the most logical sense to go for the set at all costs if there's an opportunity.

It's called renege and your penalized books or points. Depends on house rules. Usually you lose three books (30 points)

Where can i play competitive spades online besides facebook..i used to go to mplayer years ago and when they went down I dont know where everyone is any more
@angelfishluva89013 жыл бұрын
Ive played on a few Spades sites and this site has to be hands down the worst of them all. The better you do, the more rigged games you see where your partner will constantly bid nil and then lose it on the very first play or constantly step on your cards. They make you move up the least amount of coins you can spend up draining your coins faster. This site is good at testing your patience.

When you say “I’m gonna push spades just so I can see if that queen of heart can walk” can you explain that?
@TheKos2Kos3 жыл бұрын
Walking means winning a book. He has a queen of heart and Ace of heart. He also has a total of 5 out of 13 hearts so chances of that queen walking/winning a book is low because there are only 8 hearts left for three people which means on average there are two people with three hearts and one with two hearts. Therefore the likely number of trials of any body winning books with hearts before spades are played would be two trials since one person can likely only play hearts twice before they can cut with spade. He wants to win two books of hearts with them before spades cut. In this player's scenario, only the people with the ace and king of hearts should expect to win the first two books of hearts before spades can cut hearts. So he plays a spade instead of leading with the ace of hearts because he hopes that someone will play the king of heart first so he can beat the king of hearts with his ace of hearts and then immediately win the next book with his queen of heart. Hence I'm gonna push a spade to see if my queen will walk. His style of play like many people would be to always lead with whatever non-spade aces you have. He is pushing spades before his ace of heart to set a trap for the king of heart. Does that make sense ? Or do you think I am wrong? Or did I even answer your question? Happy spades !
@DarwinLpayne3 жыл бұрын
Means he thinks he has enough trump to take his opponents trump. They can’t cut if they don’t have trump. Your queen walks if there is no trump
