My Australian passport (renewal) took 2 weeks to arrive. My son changed from child to adult and waited 6 weeks. Here, child's passport lasts 5 years. Adult, aged 18-69, lasts 10 years. 70 years and older lasts 5 years. Adult Australian passport for ten years costs AUD$350 which is roughly USD$220

We always pack light when travelling. After 3 months in The States (Aussie here) our bags only weighed 40lbs. Mr23 (son) and I are off to New Zealand in a month, for 5 days. Carry On backpack is already organised. 1 pair of shoes, the outfit we'll travel in, 1 pjs, and 2 other outfits. Every piece of clothing is mix and match. We leave our nearest airport at 6am and it can still be chilly in the morning, so we wear our jacket or coat instead of packing it.

Greetings from rural Australia. I love Chicago and have been there twice. The first time was 10 years ago with hubby. We had a month long Amtrak pass and one of our destinations was Chicago. We walked from Central Station to our hotel, The Palmer House Hilton. Definitely sounds like an expensive hotel but we found a great room price there when booking online. The 2nd time there was 7 years ago with the kids, aged 20&16. This time we had a car and stayed at a more family friendly La Quinta. We drove into Down Town Chicago, which as a foreigner was extremely easy to navigate around. We parked for the day and just walked.

Made several week long camping trips there back in the late sixties. Camped on a point near the low bridge. Lot of us kids would take that trail from the low bridge to the hatchery and look down on the trout fishermen and toss a few rocks in the river to scare the fish. Great place.

At least three whole continents gasped when you said "normal-sized beer"! I would visit The Bean... you know my reasons. Also it would be fun to imagine I am staring at my kettle, but bigger. And outdoors for some reason. Generally I do not like tourist traps but I love a really f*cked-up provincial wax museum, who does not want to see an Elvis as if created by an AI out of cheese? Actually, any museum/attraction that makes you ask "but why tho." is automatically on my list. This is why I can never visit Iceland.

Fun video, hope you had a great time! I had always imagined American Gothic was much larger. My ceramics teacher was obsessed with Henry Moore - we would have spent the entire trip in that room! Which was your favourite piece from this video and which was your favourite piece overall? Did you visit the famous Bean sculpture? I want to see it and take a selfie flipping it off because I do not forgive Anish Kapoor over Vantablack.

Great video. IN HS we had a mandatory class called Art History. I was the stoner who sat in the back row. All the Jocks and brainy kids were in it. (Small HS) I loved it so much I asked for extra credit. When the teacher read my name in whose top score the grade curve was made of the entire class turned around Jaws open with comments like "you got it?" None of them passed. I just shrugged it off. In hindsight it was the first sign I had a photographic memory. My favorite Artist then and now is Monet.

I signed up for Clear. I also have Global Entry and TSA Pre check. JFK is my airport where those TSA Pre Check Lines can be iffy, time pending. It should be noted+hi-lited that if you have the AMEX Platinum card, they grant you a $179 dollar credit. If you add your Delta Skymiles account number, it's $169. I added my mom on it, so that's the total I would get credit for. I dont have to pay for it since it's covered by the credit card. Other credit cards offer this as well. I just went with the Platinum AMEX.

I love Global Entry and it's worth a few extra bucks to tack that onto Precheck. My one gripe with Precheck - Seatac's Precheck is WAAAAAAY away from the other security lines. Any time that you save going through the Precheck line faster could be eaten up by the amount of time it takes you to walk past the regular TSA line to get to the Precheck line.

I have clear, I got in on a promotion where I could use it absolutely free for the first 2 months and I was free to cancel at anytime. Flying out of Orlando, the lines are always horrible so the fact that I could use it to fly out and back to Cleveland for free, I took it. But it is very expensive and if you only fly once or twice a year, it’s honestly not worth it. You still have to wait in long security lines and they actually charged me after the first 2 weeks instead of the 2 months and wouldn’t refund. I thought I would use it more than I did and the fact that you have to pay yearly, unless you’re someone who travels several times a year; in my opinion from being a Clear customer; it’s not worth it.

This reminds me of a pickle I’m currently in. I booked a flight with Swiss through United in July last year to Dublin that’s scheduled for the week of St. Paddy’s day. I bought the travel insurance with it and in the end it came out to a little over $700. A few months later my cousin invites me to his wedding in Mexico that’s on, you guessed it: St. Paddy’s day! I don’t wanna miss his wedding and tbh I don’t have the budget to go on two trips, so even if they were to reschedule me I couldn’t really go. But I’ve read that at least with United, they’d have to cancel/significantly delay the trip in order for them to issue a refund. The insurance I bought also doesn’t cover this. 😬
