I am curious about installing a Infrared panel in my bathroom. It would be nice to feel the warm sun in the winter as I leave the shower. I was wondering when infrared hits a mirror does it reflect? If I mounted it behind me when looking at the mirror would it then hit my back and reflect off of the mirror and hit my front? Any thoughts?

Is their an updated version of this video? Just bought a radiator and the LCD screen layout is completely different to my previous radiator and what is shown on the video. I can't tell if it is faulty/damaged (not unlikely given the miss-handling APC subjected it to trying to deliver it) with the buttons seemingly not working or if I'm just doing it wrong.

We won't recommend this product (poor build-in quality)! We installed 5 new heaters just few months ago. 2 stopped working within few weeks!!! We replaced our 30+ years old storage heaters (still worked after all these years ) mainly for energy efficiency. BIG MISTAKE! We have no confidence in this product.

your app is not working properly lately, its been just few months i have it, it fails to connect, the program pages are constantly blinking, impossible to save a setting as constantly throwing errors, unable to even reset the app to starting point as no such option, not able to remove and add radiator, unable to properly log in or out or delete the account etc etc in one word - this is a disaster mark from 1 to 10 is -10

If electric rate was the same price of gas then electric would be cheaper. I am waiting for hydrogen heating that would be cheaper in the long run

Electric radiators are a poor option for most homes because electricity is expensive and, in the UK, the electricity is some way from being de-carbonised. There are lots of other good websites and videos on saving energy and/or saving carbon that are not selling any particular solution.

From what I can see, there is no way of setting on/off times during a 24hr period. The radiator must either be on Comfort or Economy. I don’t want the radiator on during the night. Is there a solution, apart from switching it off?

Is it better if it cools down slowly? It certainly retains heat well, but wouldn’t that also make it more expensive to heat up? I’m just trying to understand because it feels like the benefits might be a bit exaggerated.

So, here’s my query, which to date, nobody has attempted to answer. My room is approx 25000 cubic feet and is reasonably well insulated. It is equipped with storage heating which I don’t use as it is archaic and I’m not a weather forecaster. So, I employ a 3kw electric radiator. I normally have the thermostat set to 21.5 Centigrade. If I set the power control to 3kw, the radiator will quickly heat the room to the desired temperature. Then the thermostat will switch on and off, maintaining that temperature. If I adjust that power selector to 1kw, the radiator will still heat the room to the same desired temperature, but, takes longer. Then the thermostat will switch on and off to maintain that temperature, but spends more time switched on. I can also set that power selector to 2kw. This achieves the same goal, but, obviously, somewhere between the other 2 settings. Which power setting would be the most economic?
@howardskeivys4184
@howardskeivys4184 Ай бұрын
@ thanks, those were my conclusions. But what happens when the room’s thermal loss is greater than the heat supplied by the radiator. The radiator would be constantly on, trying to maintain the room temperature. Would that not be less efficient than a more powerful heater whose thermostat regulates the temperature. Which guides me to the thinking that the highest setting would be the most efficient.

It doesn't matter to me how they work. Tell me if radiators with more fins creates more heat with more surface space, and explain if a 1500w is actually 1500w. What if I don't care about efficiency and more about actual heat output.
@howardskeivys4184
@howardskeivys4184 2 ай бұрын
Radiators with more fins do not generate more heat. But the greater surface area created by those fins will ensure that any heat generated by that radiator is more efficiently dispersed. If your radiator is rated at 1500w and is manufactured by a reputable brand, then yes, it will draw 1500w. Electric heating is 100% efficient. 100% of the electricity drawn by your radiator will be converted to heat! Hope this helps?
@johnsasquatch8619
@johnsasquatch8619 2 ай бұрын
@howardskeivys4184 thank you for the clarification. I had watched a video with a guy taking a volt meter to different brands and some that said they were 1500w didn't really draw 1500w. That's where I got confused. Thank you again for the clarification.

@@johnsasquatch8619 I can think of no reasons a manufacturer would claim an inflated current rating, other to falsely boost the products heating capability. Glad I could help. 👍

GREAT HEATERS ,VERY HAPPY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I purchased 3 heaters earlier this year (500watt/1500watt & 2000watt) and I've now decided to set up the programming as the weather has turned cold. I'm not sure why everyone is complaining about setting up the programme, it's very easy if you follow this video. Yes you do need some patience but once set up you don't need to worry about it again. These are smart heaters and run off the wifi, so worth checking your wifi signal strength in the room your heater is in. I set up my bedroom heater programme last night following steps in this video. The programme was also reflected on the app, I think is handy as you get an overview of all programmes then having to go to each individual heater to check what the programme is. This morning the bedroom heater came on a 6am (comfort mode) and without any sound, I did not hear the heater come on or any loud beeps and it turned off at 9am as I programmed. Please don't be put off by the comments, you just need some patience and to watch the video a couple times and it's very easy to set up.

Pity it was only one week after end of 2 year warranty the inbuilt thermostat failed and was unrepairable on one of them I bought. Another, the casing chipped easily. An expensive mistake buying these. And the heat output was pretty poor.

Avoid these radiators. They are a nightmare to set up. Even when that's been successful they drop the wifi signal (when wifi is fine), regularly - meaning you have to start again and again. They each make a loud beeping noise which wakes up the entire household when they turn on in the morning. You need two apps to set up and manage (three if you include Google home) - its ridiculous. Manually, or via the app - they are problematic. I had all my radiators set to a zone for ease of use - even that didn't work. It would sometimes turn all of the radiators on but not all of them off!? I then had to go around each radiator to make sure they were off . The app user display showed 'mixed' despite the fact all radiators had the same settings and it had turned them all on!? Voice control is a sham. You can't just say e.g. "Google turn on heating" for the zone you've chosen. Oh, no. You have to say "Google turn on 'kitchen' radiator", "Google turn on 'living room' radiator" and repeat this for every radiator you have - they don't tell you that in the videos. As for app programming it's a joke. I set up a schedule. It never worked. I set up a different schedule. Nope. Doesn't work. The radiators and app are allegedly developed in-house. It needs a major overhaul that can be applied to mugs like myself who invested in these problematic radiators. There is NOTHING smart about these. They are NOT user friendly. You'll spend a lot of time with the manual. A lot time watching videos. A lot of time with customer support. A lot of time wishing you'd bought different radiators. Absolutely awful. Best avoided.

Too many doing it now. It just comes across as pretentious. I wouldn’t subscribe to any channel that does this.

IQ ceramic are not well built , expect failures and often. Also shop around exactly the same heater under another name and half the price available. The joke is you can buy a 2000w oil radiator from Argos for £90 v £700 for one of these. Both just as efficient or non efficient as each other.

Standard glass do not hold any infrared waves. So if you install it in front of the window - you will heat your backyard. By the way infrared heaters radiate 360 degree, so unless you are not living in a microwave you will loose infrared radiation threw windows and other objects. That’s normal😊

Also no lock feature that simply turning off then back on can’t change so no good for holiday let’s etc. Also exact same unit is available for less than half the price from another manufacturer and sold by Argos - Avoid
