Standard glass do not hold any infrared waves. So if you install it in front of the window - you will heat your backyard. By the way infrared heaters radiate 360 degree, so unless you are not living in a microwave you will loose infrared radiation threw windows and other objects. That’s normal😊

They are better at heating because as they heat up objects, the objects traps latent heat and then release it into the room like mini batteries. Air based heating will quickly disappear if the heater is turned off.
