I ain’t watch the video but I’ll say this: Making a video game is complicated. it’s supposed to be both a product and a work of art with a budget and a deadline. If 2 years of sales, feedback, and extra production is what it takes for Persona 5 or SMTV to reach their full potential with Royal and Vengeance, I can appreciate them.

An hour and a half in waiting for someone to mention that SJ Redux was (generally considered) the worse version and the original is superior.

The gun change makes a lot of sense bc if the guns just need to look real, then ofc there’s no actual magazine you put in, so how and why would another shadow know if you ran out? Sure if it’s the same shadows and they don’t see you reload then it makes sense, but other shadows? No thank you

Okok you explained it, good bc they really did need to change that lol

No real pattern for what should would be a rerelease or dlc. Reload can do a dlc because of how disjointed the answer is while Royal doesn’t exist anymore if it’s dlc. Vengeance is a peculiar game seeing how CoV is entirely separate from CoC. Then there’s golden where the bonus content is still disjointed but justified a rerelease mainly due to being entirely different hardware.

I think this is an unwinnable debate. I think Re-releases and DLC are a case by case thing.

The problem with just useing free updates and DLC for a game like persona isn't good because re-release(like p5r) has new story woven in to it(like new social links) which happens earlier in the story(Gore, Yoshizawa, ect) that won't make sense to have a separate menu option like FES had, but if its like 4 Golden, then it should just be updates and DLC because it doesn't add much, except 2 social links that could be done at anytime.(Also persona is a game meant to be played multiple times)

Just to rebut the argument saying the "rereleases take less dev time and therefore should cost less", I just want to point out the DLC/rerelease will absolutely have less sales than original p5. So we really cant say for sure that atlus is 100% being greedy with their pricing because we dont actually know unit sales and how they compare. If it takes half as much dev time but sells half as many units you still have the same amount of profit (roughly)

My only problem with rereleases is that I like to 100% games and when they release a definitive version it kind of wastes the work I put in to the previous game.

I get both sides, but I agree that Atlus could've just spent longer on the game and finished the content that Royal provided, put it in the base game at launch, and no one would be complaining.

re-releases suck because you have to buy the game again but also Atlus is not known for adding stuff like 3rd semester into the game as DLC, so unfortunately you basically have to buy it again if you want the new content Atlus, a company famous for adding large new additions to the game in post-launch DLC packs.

Would The Answer not be as substantial if not more substantial as the 3rd semester. Reload is going the DLC route with it I don’t see why it’s impossible to do in the future.
@SlimeDoesArt6 күн бұрын
@kingkobra4910 The Answer is absolutely more substantial than the 3rd semester, but I think it's because the answer doesn't fundamentally change content from the original game (the journey). In P5 to P5R, they fundamentally changed the layout for mandatory story dungeons to fit the new grapple shot mechanic, and also added new pathways for the Will Seeds. That would probably be a though thing to do in a single DLC update for the base game. It's the same thing with SMTV to SMTVV, with the magatsuhi rails and such that changes the layouts of the open field sections. There are a bunch of other changes and tweaks that changes the fundamental game design of the areas. The Answer, on the other hand, is standalone content. Yeah, you absolutely gotta beat the main game since it's an epilogue, but the answer doesn't touch the journey at all, nor change anything about it (mechanically or gameplay wise). Which is why they're probably doing it as DLC. They aren't changing the layout of Tartarus in the journey with a new traversal option or adding any extra gameplay features and such with the Answer and directly applying it to the journey. Though the actual answer might just be to save costs by not having to print a physical disc, shipping, and selling at retail :/ Would be actually pretty cool if Atlus went the Xenoblade 2 route, where they make a physical copy of just the DLC (when the DLC is pretty much a standalone game).

I feel like the rereleases are justified in all the new content and tweaks that they couldn't provide as dlc on the original game simply based on the day based gameplay. In some cases they give a better appreciation for the previous version and their differences too. People complain that they have to buy the game again in such a short period of time when the rereleases historically actually come out a couple of years after the og, unlike the yearly ea NFL and 2k games that are nearly the same if at all.
