Just wanted to check that I was doing it right! I am, thanks! It is an instant touch up and makes a real difference for household scissors. I am going to try it on my tin snips since the video said to!

liars, you wouldn't use the same sharpener on a knife as you would on a lawn mower blade.

And when you miss the knife you slit deep your knuckles and piss blood. I know because I did it, one moment of lapsed concentration. A great tool but the finger guard needs to be 5 times wider. Who ever designed it should be shot!

Ruined one pair of scissors following the directions on the back of the pack then decided to watch your video that focused on the flat side to sharpen and the next pair I tried worked. THANK YOU! I sew for a living and you just saved me some time and money!

the problem is the sharpeners stop working in no time...i'm tired of having to replace those sharpeners so much...is there no way to restore the ones i have?....i've tried using oil, WD40, every cleaner i have and nothing will cause those sharpeners to work again...they just stop cutting the knife metal

I’ve used this for 7 years or more on all my kitchen knives. If you have badly dulled/marred blades, I suggest a grinding sharpener first. Then use this to finish and keep edge to perfection. Once sharpened, use a knife block or a plastic sleeve if storing in a drawer. You will be happy

I've also had mine for over 10 years. Almost got a new one about 3 years a ago until I found I could reverse the blades. Lord knows how many more years of use this thing will still get me!

Can you use this on scissors
@chef4208

No the yellow one is for scissors because the white one makes a double edge. Scissors have a single edge on each blade.

If you want to damage your knives without getting them sharp, you can use the AccuSharp shapener. I like how the demonstrator says "Chazam! Sharp knife!" each time he destroys the edge of his knife. Note that he does not demonstrate how sharp is the knife (tomato cutting, phone book paper test etc.) Don't be fooled people, the only valid way to sharpen a knife manually is with some kind of benshstones (ceramic, japanese, wet sand paper etc.) and a little bit of technique. You can quite easily learn on KZbin. Go for example to OUTDOORS55 channel and see what sharp really is. Advice from a professional knife sharpener.

Obviously you have not used one. They have worked very well on my set of kitchen knives for the past 15 years. These knives stay razor sharp and still look new..

Knife sharpeners, although not the ideal solution, can still make a blunted blade sufficiently sharp. An anecdotal opinion from someone that has successfully sharpened multiple dull blades with generic knife sharpeners.

I found a old sharpener hidden away in my drawer and it was this style. I just tested it on a few dull old knives, trying to see how it works, and tried different ways of holding it... I got decent success but the ways I was trying didn't 'feel right' or safe, as I was moving the knife over the device. Came on KZbin to figure out how to use the damn thing and so... THANK YOU lol, for showing me the proper way of using it lol. Your way looks much safer :-p Very nice, straightforward instructions on some kitchen basics :)

I have also wondered about Consumer Reports impartiality. How do we really know their assessments aren't skewed in favor of one brand over another? Bribery can certainly be offered to replace lost ad revenue.
