Cool thing about taking that step to play is it betters the odds of someone else playing too. I do a lot of soccer passing and drill work on a wall and this has opened up so many collaborative opportunities and 1 v 1 games. That would be a great follow up video 👍🏻

There's one mental trick that might help. Disclaimer: I cannot butt bounce yet. If you can do the sit to stand half of the trick, try dropping back to butt immediately after that. In acrobatics/parkour etc. sometimes going back to a position you were in immediately before is mentally easier than starting from any other position, when learning.

When I was a teenager I was always barefoot all summer. I miss that, it was counter culture then, most young people went barefoot. Now I go walking barefoot as much as possible. But, today's social culture barefoot has rules on where and when. And their are different barefoot rules for men and women.

This video does a great job at explaining how to do the rope climbs with proper technique. Hopefully it helps me during my first spartan race this month :). Thanks
@brandonbeauchesne-hebert9371
@brandonbeauchesne-hebert9371 Жыл бұрын
Spartan race is so much fun. If you were going to do it there, remember to try to get your leg as high as possible when starting. You might need to jump up to get a little bit of height. The ropes are going to be extremely muddy and very slippery at the bottom. Not at the top as most people fail this obstacle. One thing I don’t mention is how the technique changes depending on the thickness of the rope and if it’s tied down at the bottom. The thicker the rope, the harder J-hook becomes. More that the rope is tied down at the bottom making it tighter and act more like a pole than a rope, these techniques become less efficient. J-hook no longer works as you need the rope to be loosen enough to hook it around your foot. I would use the s-hook but with a small change. If you can kick your feet out into an L then it works. However, I would focus on squeezing a rope with your thighs as well. Imagining sliding down a fireman pole. The more the rope is tight and is acting like a pole, the more you’re gonna have to climb it like a pole instead of a rope. Hopefully this helps and if you have any other questions I’d be happy to do my best.

I practice climbing on trees only because it's all I have access to and I'll say it is so much easier barefoot albeit a little uncomfortable but makes it so much easier for me to trust my feet because I can usually feel a slip before it happens

@ALoonwolf
@ALoonwolf Жыл бұрын
Yes, on steep slopes you plant your foot down and instantly know whether it's going to grip or slip. With shoes you slip, then realise it's slippery! And going uphill you can dig your toes into slippery mud like a climbing pickaxe.

What about skateboarding would that have some carryover?
@brandonbeauchesne-hebert9371
@brandonbeauchesne-hebert9371 Жыл бұрын
Any athlete sport will have some carry over, just depends how. Skateboarding will help with air awareness. What I have found the most that carries over is not being afraid of trying things as skateboarders know how to fall on concrete and be okay. You develop a good amount of mental strength.

The lakes situation isn't really too bad either in my state, Florida, known better for ocean beaches. As far as dangerous wildlife parts, lakes can certainly have their lot especially here in Florida: Gators, snakes, snapping turtles, even bull sharks (which can handle fresh water and access any river connected to the sea)and brain-eating amoebas.

@@brandonbeauchesne-hebert9371 What about the brain eating amoebas Naegleria Floweri, which goes up your nose and is 98% fatal? Its not just a Florida or even a Southern US thing? Hello Brandon, I just had this video come up in my feed due to my interest in really similar stuff which I might blab about later in this comment, but first I want to say, you need more viewers because this is a first-class video essay. It's a skillfully restrained and well structured personal essay about learning something new, engagingly presented, well paced, not self indulgent, thinking of the viewer. Excellent work. On the side of how this video got suggested to me, I'm into floor sitting, and transitioning to a more movement-friendly home, and minimalism. I SO get the feeling of freedom that comes from realizing we are doing something that feels great, and is so obviously healthful, why would anyone find this weird?!? I think you might like to look at Esther Gohkale's book on natural posture called 8 Steps to a Pain Free Back and I was able to find it as an ebook from my public library. Being mindful of her observations about natural posture improved all my other movement work. She also has a website. Cheers, good work here!

i love dead malls. last summer i got the brilliant idea to walk barefoot in a dead mall. (two different malls in my state) i walked with out shoes. took a deep breath and walked on that pavement. (my feet didnt burn) i opened the door to the mall and walked right in. (it just felt natural to me) the mall was basically dead. not a soul in the mall except for bed bath and beyond and T mobile store. (nvr went into stores) took two laps around and left. On sept 18, 2021 would be the last time (for the year ) to be free of shoes there. I noticed a little more foot traffic there. so i avoided ppl. at the same time i had to use the bathroom. (felt a little awkward in there. knowing the floor have germs and urine around the stall) used the stall, washed my hands and left. (after walking barefoot in the mall. i have sanitized wipes in my car. cleaned my feet that way) just as i was turning around the corner. the security of the mall was walking into the bathroom. it makes me wonder to this day. if the security guard on duty. had he seen me barefoot. would i be escorted out of the mall. (in reality what rules am i breaking) they’re just feet nothing more. if i see something hazardous on the floor. walk around it! 🙄😑 When i was at the mall in Jan or Feb of this year i noticed a list of rules. they said shoes are required in the mall. curious can i be escorted out of the mall for not wearing shoes bc the mall requires me to? (this summer i hope to bring a friend with me. walk barefoot (in a mall) and see his reaction/get a feel from him)
