Marc told us then , how Rod would sing classics that he made classic. Must send this to Rod via Alan . It’s fab and Rod just wrote a tribute song to his friend Marc Xx

Man denke "wer hat den Käfig aufgelassen..." aber ich habe die Zeit erlebt, jeder wollte "besonders" sein..... heute gesehen lächerlich, jedoch die Musik passt...

Russell Harty was a mediocre person which manifested itself in his interviews, as providing discomfort for his guests and humiliation, often, for himself when they realised how phoney he was. I cringed at his 'interviewing style'. Here, he seems to be criticising Marc about money and fame, which he'd attained quickly, but pays scant attention to Marc as an artist. The poor man's Parkinson( who respected, admired and researched his subjects well), I wish he'd got the Sex Pistols and ended up discredited like Bill Grundy.😅

There was a stall on Leicester market back in the 70s that could get Marc’s imports - attending Printing College in the city the stall was a real bonus - not being from Leicester I was introduced to it by my pal who was a massive “Guru” - we would sometimes jam along to Marc’s songs at his house - sadly he is no longer with us. We did have great fun though searching out Marc’s more obscure records / imports - great days 🎸🎸🎸

Aww so sad seeing the white swan and his name in flowers. I remember when he died,I was a child at the time, loved him on TOTP. Elvis died month before him. Loved his films etc as a child. Such big stars we won’t ever forget them both ❤❤

There was a very short time window when this would have worked - and I think it really could have been something very special had he and TV worked on it in the studio. After the phenomenal success of Electric Warrior that window closed I think 🎸🎸🎸
@ATMFC
@ATMFC Ай бұрын
You're right about the timing-the window for The Children of Rarn Suite was short, but it had the potential to be something unique. If Bolan and Visconti had fully fleshed it out in the studio, it could have been a defining piece of his early work. However, Electric Warrior changed everything. Once Bolan struck gold with that album, his sound became much more focused on glam rock swagger, and the more whimsical, fantasy-driven elements of The Children of Rarn just didn’t fit the new direction. The success of Electric Warrior shifted the trajectory completely, closing the door on that earlier concept-but it remains a fascinating "what if" in his career.

@@ATMFC Agree totally - “There Was A Time” being the final goodbye to his early career and “Raw Ramp” a sort of “well hello there - here we are now” and “Electric Boogie” a watch me go sort of thing - I enjoyed / still enjoy it all 🎸🎸🎸

Once played this at an “open mic” night at a local pub - introduced it as an “old English folk song” - not sure anyone got the irony but it went down well 🎸🎸🎸🎸 I had to get people to sing along because I really don’t have a voice 😜
