My old N62 engine runs at 107°C until I use full throttle, then it drops to about 90°C. BMW has used variable thermostats for a long time, I guess.

Sorry to hear that. First thing to do is plug in an OBD2 scanner and check for the fault codes. Depending on fault code, you can plan the next step. Hope this helps.

MOTUL EXPERT ULTRA HAS BOTH LC87 AND LC18 RECOMMENDATION. So is it wrong coolant for a 2020 bmw g20 ???
@NoBrainerTalk4 күн бұрын
I don't think it's BMW approved, so it's at owner's discretion to use or not.
@davidb6494 күн бұрын
@NoBrainerTalk LC18 is recommended by Motul on the bottle. Unlike engine oils, Nearly no coolant has bmw approval, but a specific code of recommendation is always good and you trust to the brand in that case. There is no BMW coolant anyway. Probably LC87 and LC18 have so similar properties that Motul decided to put both on the bottle. I change coolant every year and there is no BMW coolant for sale in my country even at Bmw dealership. Even Bmw dealership uses castrol Nf or Fuchs and none of them LC87 or LC18 recommendation on bottle even. So Motul Autocool Expert Ultra with LC18 recommendation, should be fine I hope.

I know there is no official info yet, but there is a rumor that a gasoline powered variant of the next gen M3 (G84) will have a 48v mild hybrid. How would it be used in that car?
@NoBrainerTalk5 күн бұрын
I would expect S58 with mild hybrid to be similar to the B58TU2, as in there will be no alternator or starter-generator on the engine ancillaries and the 48V mild hybrid system will work with the gearbox. Oh my goodness it is almost 2025, and I still have not made Part 2 of the B58TU2 video where I was going to cover the 48V mild hybrid system... More details will come in a future video...

Hello I have 2019 X3 M40 : Prod Date : 2018-08-16 Type : X3 M40I A Series : G01 (X Series) Engine : B58M It exists two type of coolant : > The Bleue LC87 > The Green (LC-18 a.k.a. HT-12) We have two tanks (as picture attached ) : > The black tank > The white/clear tank I have "low coolant warning" with my X3 2019 M40. At BMW Garage , I see the technicien filled up : with the Green (LC-18 a.k.a. HT-12) on the black tank with the bleue LC87 on the white tank However I read that for G01 2019 , we have to use the green coolant Ht-12 for both tanks . Am I wrong ?
@NoBrainerTalk6 күн бұрын
Hi, did you buy the car new, and was each system filled with different coolant from factory? If not and the garage topped up with whatever coolant they found in each circuit, then it seems one of the coolant circuits have been flushed since factory. It's possible they were both HT-12 at factory and one was flushed with LC-87, or both were LC-87 and one was flushed with HT-12. I do not believe the garage topped up the coolant with different coolant just for the sake of it... The two circuits (engine and intercooler) and completely independent so there is no harm per se of having one circuit with different coolant than the other (it only makes things slightly more complicated to maintain). Hope this helps.

@@NoBrainerTalk Hi, Thank you for your reply. It was a old car from 2019 X3 M40 . The bmw garage just add some bleue collant LC87 on the white tank for filled up . For me it was green (HT12) before I went to the garage but I finally found on the specification it was not important to mix LC87 and HT12 when you add a little bit . The BMW Garage confirm me by call

I have the same thing. In the small tank i have i white/transparent liquid coolant. And i need to refill it soon. Which liquid do i need to buy ?
@NoBrainerTalk12 күн бұрын
That's a very good question, the only anti-freezes you can buy from BWM for the B58 are blue and green, so what is this clear/brown fluid!!! Noone has been able to say what the Part Number or designation is, making the fluid abit of a mystery. Look, it's almost certainly safe to add some BMW blue coolant in there and mix it, but I did not do that with my car and I would not suggest the same to anyone else. You might also add some distilled water only to top it up, depending on how much topup you need. But if you can't determine what this fluid is after talking with BMW dealer (and I mean get the Part Number to order more, not just some vague "it's OK") then my humble suggestion would be to flush out the entire system and re-fill with known coolant. Just my humble opinion.

I have a question: I own an 840i G16 2021 with the B58B30C engine (335 hp). Is it the same engine as in the M340i (B58B30B)? Which one is better, and which has more potential for more power?
@NoBrainerTalk13 күн бұрын
Both the B58B30B and B58B30C are B58TU1 engines, i.e. 2nd generation B58 engines. However the B58B30B has a higher power output. In terms of modifications and tuning, they both have incredible potential so it is difficult to answer that one.

By your command. I’m green coolant. Also distilled water availability is tricky in U.K. as it’s not readily available off the shelf. Gotta do an Amazon job as everyone seems to sell Deionised water. Even motor spare shops.I guess my cars fussy like me ,a bit like which cola goes best with my JD. Now that can’t just be any old cola, there’s only 1 mix that tastes correct 🤔 Thanks for this , your voice reminds me of the Cylons from the old BattleStarGalactica series.. “By your command.” 😂

Do İ have to turn on auto start stop system to utilize mild hybrid system?
@NoBrainerTalkАй бұрын
I believe in cars with the mild-hybrid the start-stop button is gone (i.e. the system is always on), and the system auto deactivates start-stop in sport modes (sport, sport+, traction, gearbox in sport/manual, etc.).

my main tank is fine but i jus checked and the small one is completely empty. i dont see anything leaking. my turbo makes a whistling noise when accelerating and theres a bubbling noise when i shut the car off. theres also a constant buzzing/whirring noise when i unlock/lock the car, start it, turn it off, and ppl say its normal but idk. i took it to the dealer n they didnt even want to check it😐 just LAZY🤦🏽♀️
@NoBrainerTalkАй бұрын
OK some notes: - The small tank is purely for intercooler coolant and does not go to the turbo. If you lost this coolant it means the intercooler was not very effective, the intake air was hotter i.e. less dense, and you likely had reduced power. - Whistling noise from turbo could be from louder induction (e.g. from high-flow air filter or intake resonator delete), but again the turbo would have nothing to do with empty intercooler coolant expansion tank. The circuits are independent of each other. - The buzzing noises when unlocking is the fuel system getting primed and ready to start the engine. Buzzing noises after driving and locking can be the auxiliary electrical coolant pump continuing to work (now that the main engine driven coolant pump has stopped) to drive coolant through the turbo to continue to cool it without engine running. Both noises are normal. - There is no coolant level sensor in the intercooler coolant expansion tank, so you won't get a low coolant warning, hence it is possible to have empty tank without knowing it. This has been reported by other B58 owners. - You should add coolant (50/50 mix of anti-freeze and distilled water) up to max level, and monitor the level periodically, e.g. start with after one day, then after two days, then after a week and then after a month. Top it off with coolant if found lower than max after the first day and second day checks, it doesn't necessarily mean coolant is lost, just air escaping. If you continue to need to top up after one week it could mean you have a leak. - Above assumes you will add only abit of coolant to refil the expansion tank to max, and it won't be necessary to bleed the system. There is a bleeding procedure to remove air from the circuit. If you have an empty circuit (not just empty tank) it means you have a leak somewhere. - It is a commonly reported occurrence from B58 owners, for coolant to escape from either expansion tank due to the cap not sealing correctly. If you can see white deposits around the cap, this is a sign of the coolant leaking out from the cap. For peace of mind, you could order a new cap. - If you continue to see coolant loss from the expansion tank, without any clear evidence where it is going, consider taking car for pressure check of the system. The system will be pressurized with external tool, and left for a few hours to see if it holds pressure. If pressure drops then there is a leak. Hope this helps.
