That’s the trick that everyone wants to skimp out on is digging that trench with an almost perfect smooth bottom so your corrugated drain pipe isn’t a rollercoaster with a ton of bellies.
I'd love to see the pop-up (with the heat cable) functioning during a thaw. I live in Minnesota. The catch basin/inline vent and the pop-up would be covered with snow. Do you keep them shoveled out/cleared, or does the water pop-up under the snow?
@FRENCHDRAINMANКүн бұрын
The water runs beneath the snow. You must also install another heat cable in the gutter and downspout because they will freeze. They take a hotter cable.

You need to go back when it's raining heavy to see how good it's working
Have you thought about offering a continuous loop DVD of that surface drain/catch basin? I think I would stop watching the Yule Log vid and watch that drain all afternoon to relax and enjoy the ambiance! That yard had to have been a nightmare prior to your intervention.
a 45-degree 4" Tee at the ground level, with a metal mesh inserted into the Tee is a cheap solution. The Tee's side opening is a man hole to insert a mesh to stop the leaves, and you need a 5 buck cover for the side opening too. Cut a cheap leaf guard to create the mesh filter.

So I used the big blue wye today to connect my two big drainage lines to a knife cut leech line. Very nice and solid piece of equipment but it did not connect tightly to my white 4” knife cut and I ended up having to tile tape them together. Other 4” fittings like the pop up connected to the knife cut fine.

Thank you for sharing that information. It is very helpful to me.

How did you calculate that a single 4 inch line can accommodate 2 3x4 downspouts?
Honda EU2000i?? Contractors who've done outside work for me and/or neighbors, always plug into our outside outlets! I also wish the contractor who put the underground downspout system around my home 30 yrs ago, could have seen some of your videos, as the system can't handle downpours w/o geysers coming from the downspouts! I've capped several and just dump the rainwater into the yard! :(

What kind of tape is that?
@Aaattttttttttyy2 күн бұрын
It’s tile tape.
@grayrecluse74962 күн бұрын
@Aaattttttttttyy Is it the same as concrete crack tape?
@Aaattttttttttyy2 күн бұрын
@@grayrecluse7496 I don’t think so. Tile tape is a rubberized flexible adhesive tape made to be placed underground and not fall apart after a while.
@grayrecluse74962 күн бұрын
@@Aaattttttttttyy Thanks,that tape is like that also. But it's high, or it was 20 years ago.
Can you put the super sump in for two down spouts instead of having two separate boxes for each down spout? Just wondering?

Yes, you can! Thank you for your comment and contribution.

One would think that after spending $10,000 up for a system and just a little bit of maintenance with virtually no cost to protect their investment seems absolutely ridiculous.
@worknhardmakesworkez61622 күн бұрын
I agree 100%. I did my own drainage system by myself and I will be damned if I don't maintain it after all my hard work. I keep an eye on the weather forecast and I clean my gutters and catch basins before and after the rain.@@randyklein2578

So the way I plumb. A drain holds zero amount of liquid. Thats why we use levels to get a flow at 1%. In my system if you wanna block roots? You simply install the pipe correctly. If you have bellies holding enough liquid to make this effort justifiable. Then there’s your problem. Shouldn’t be perforated holes that far from house. Just straight line out to open atmosphere. Every drop of that liquid should be at end of line in 30 seconds or less.

I thought in the northern areas, you shouldn't bury PVC? It's too rigid and will crack?
It all looks very nice to me. Except where the pipe comes out on the sidewalk, and not at the street. But I will admit it’s not my day job. If it was possible, it would be great to have it on the street. But I’m no specialist! Looks fantastic otherwise
Regarded as what a retard? Basements are many times built below the water table so the sump pump keeps water from filling that bitch up.

Could you have run 8 slot next to to the solid making it 4 pipes in the system? If so, what what are trade-off between between more pipe or more stone?

@mysterteacher, In this installation, we were running short of pipe. We had extra stone, and we were about an hour and a half away from our dispatch location.

Is 3 separate drain tiles really necessary? Why not just run 1 main drain line for the basin, roof drain, and French drain system?
Hi, I have 2.75 in. Round Downspout, will the 2 x 3 or 3 x 4 fit? The 4" Round is too big and my pipes are 3" corrugated and set up in place already
@FRENCHDRAINMAN4 күн бұрын
I really like the 3" rounds. They look amazing. Unfortunately, they're not very common. For that reason, we don't have a top for them. I hope the 3" rounds grow in popularity because they look great!

For folks looking to DIY this job, it's worth noting that the drain should never undercut the footer of the foundation -- codes require that if the drain is set below the footer, it stays outside a 60 degree pitch below the footer (the deeper below the footer the pipe goes, the further away from the house it needs to be). This prevents water and sediment being pulled away through the pipe from undercutting the foundation.
