Man, I'm getting an education. Can you connect a downspout to a yard drain? Just have one I'm concerned with. Thanks in advance. Mark

I was hoping that this video made some mention of the level of the pipes or the level of the hand dig. I didnt see a level used once, is it not necessary?

Great explanation of the need for adequate fall! I try to do mine at 2x the pipe diameter, as in 6” surface fall for a 3” pipe. Is that a good ratio?
@FRENCHDRAINMAN10 сағат бұрын
I don’t like to have a set number like that. I’ll take whatever’s available for fall. If I could run it in a direction that’ll drop 2 feet, that really makes me happy.

Looks like a new subdivision why aren’t the contractors who build the homes doing this kind of drainage…… yes I know it cost more, but you would think they would be required to do this by a code….
@FRENCHDRAINMAN10 сағат бұрын
It's viewed in the same category as automatic sprinklers. If the homeowners want it, they have to flip the bill.

I recently replaced one of my gutter run offs because the last one was full of shingle gravel. The first rain it completely filled with water and won’t move. How is the water supposed to get out of the French drain. I have the grate about 10-12 feet away from house. Am I male to drill small holes in the French drain for the water to get out or will that flood my lawn and make it super soggy ?
@FRENCHDRAINMAN13 сағат бұрын
You keep saying "French drain," but your comment is on an underground buried downspout video. I believe this is what you're looking for: kzbin.info/www/bejne/maundp2ErKhrfJYsi=gJnEmcHnfGRrNg0P

But how about you use a pipe sock AND a fabric soil separator? The manufacturers of pipe sock must know this stuff - perhaps they intend for use of both at the same time?? Every other video I've seen sits the pipe on a layer of stones. It would have to get seriously cold to freeze 50-60cm below the surface!
Why not use a pressure washer with a water jet nozzle to clear the drain line instead of digging it up?

@paulklapperich7520 The pipe was garbage. We replaced it with a heavy-duty pipe. Downspout Pipe 4 in. x 100 ft. High Octane ARMOR Pipe frenchdrainman.com/product/heavy-commercial-solid-high-octane/

You have not mentioned the rate of fall required per m/yd. Also - Hydraulic Cement not concrete as it says on the tub; concrete has aggregate in it - this doesn't. If you are draining over a whole flat area rather than at the lowest point of a slope I don't know how close the drains should be together.
Is the black fabric call geo mesh? If so. is it a non woven or woven mash? Thank you for sharing.

When you bury the Not Quite a 90 up to the edge of the fitting and then put on the turf restrictor plate, it sits about 1/2" above the ground. Do your guys stuff dirt under the plate to make it more stable?
@FRENCHDRAINMANКүн бұрын
@darrinmc Yes. You have to. Otherwise, it will rock. Pushing it down and having the plate seat in some dirt for best results.

@@FRENCHDRAINMAN Thanks for the info. I just installed a 75 foot run that combines 2 downspouts into a single popup. It was tough digging but I knew how to handle any of the issues that came up thanks to your videos. Getting the turf restrictor plates to sit at the right height was tricky for me. I'd love it if the plate came down to the top of whatever you are connecting it to (or slightly below). Then I could set the height of the 90 or catch basin knowing that the plate is going to rest on the ground when I install it. And if I need to remove it I don't get dirt in the basin. Thanks again for all your help.

I like the idea that you showed one time where you had the pop up near the curb and then had a 2 inch pipe drilled through the curb to allow the water to fully drain out of the French drain but when you had a rain storm it would come out of the pop up. I think that i may go that way when i do put in the French drain and down spout on the house.
Why did you use socked tile? Is the non-woven geotextile not good enough?
@19DCavScoutКүн бұрын
It’s not socked.. it’s white pipe.

Really like your videos. What is the purpose of putting the sock on the lower end and nowhere else? If you explained it in the video I missed it. Thanks. Mark
A more effective solution and better looking. What homeowner wouldn't considering every time it rains you are solving the problem faster and removing more debris.

Swales and trees may help the water soak in. The trees will pull the water up and evaporation will pull that water away. Not an expert but i like to see salutations where there are problems

Sorry, maybe I missed it, but does the perforated french drain go to a pop up emitter and the downspout go to a separate pop up emitter? So two separate emitters? Thank you!

I just like the quality products you make and use, design and work. Together it makes a good drainage system. It just makes sense to me.
Looks like a first class jib friend. Down here in Virginia we’ve had 13 inches of rain this month. I’ve had to vacuum water out of my basement three times and I’m ready to put in a French drain. If I send pictures and distances you can send me everything I need?

It's got to be so satisfying to catch that in action. For both you and the homeowner. I'm a big believer in engineering something for the big events. Really nice.
