I bought a 09. I liked it so much I also bought a 2012. I keep telling myself that I don't need 2 KLRs but can't bring myself to letting go of either. I then got myself a KLX 250 because the 650 was a ..... to ride on tight single tracks.

Just got my cb1100 last month, its been a blast for the few times ive ridden so far. Smooth as butter. I had a 07 fz6 and feel like it was very top heavy compared to the cb1100 bottom heaviness. It was a pain to maneuver around. Much prefer the bottom heavy.

I have the exact same model, and I, like you, was unsure of the DCT. I've always been a clutch and toe shift guy, using gears, not only to accelerate, but also downshifting and saving a great deal of wear and tear on the brakes; HOWEVER, now that I've owned this bike for almost a year...I LOVE THE DCT! Just select the mode you want to travel in, and never have to worry about being in the wrong gear, or missing a shift. I can't say enough about this Goldwing. I've been riding motorcycles (and minibikes) since I was 8 years old (now turning 65), and recently rode my "Bagger" from South Padre Island, Texas, to Eureka Springs, Arkansas; spending a few days running through the "twisties" of northern Arkansas and south west Missouri, and back (about 2500 miles, total) and was so impressed how well it handles, and travels...again, can't say enough about it!!!

Make sure you get the recalls done for the fuel fan issue and the trans bolt that can break the trans gears hopefully it doesn't happen while your riding the bike.

I have to agree and disagree. I have owned 3 Goldwings and I understand them. I cannot blame anyone for choosing the DCT but it's not for me. As for the looks of this model, I hate it. That flat look on the rear is well just to me "ugly" This bike looks so much better and balance with the trunk. I applaud some of the tech innovations but the bagger look is not it. Thanks for the video and be safe, have fun.

This, why are you here? That's all you got? " It's a maxi scooter?" I've ridden bikes since 1973 and so far the best has been my 22 GW DCT. You need to always remember something when making stupid comments like this. The traditional two wheel MOTORCYCLE started off as a BICYCLE that two gents in Germany decided pedaling was to hard and stuck a ICE in the frame, if anyone should be throwing "shade" at anyone it is the human powered "CYCLIST". Nuff said.

I have the 2023 DCT Tour and absolutely love it. I have to ask what is hanging below the left mirror bracket? Part of the reason for the low speed maneuvering feeling clumsy is due to the fact the bike has a dual wishbone front end suspension, which takes some getting used to.

i test rode a 24 Goldwing DCT; low speed maneuvering felt extremely clumsy and cumbersome. I'm sure it's a learning curve and gets much easier with practice. I prefer a clutch, shifter and quick shifter as that offers a more visceral connection to the bike; a DCT feels more sterile.
@dimitrispratling4785Ай бұрын
You are correct AND correct sir! You do learn the bike over time for low speed manuevers but it is a journey and having a clutch and gear shifter does give you a connection to the bike missing in a DCT. Honda realized this and its latest technology " E-clutch will be a complete game changer. The innovation has Goldwing written all over it. I can't wait! We are talking having your cake and eating it too..."if" you want too. 😊😊

This is typically overlooked by reviewers who have little to no miles on the bike. But. Use auto mode in D or S but use the paddle shifters to set the engine rpm where you want it (just like a clutch bike). Poke the minus button twice when passing, and you’ll be glad you have the backrest. BTW that backrest was either improperly installed or wayyy out of adjustment. 50k purely delightful miles on mine…

Take a MSF class.... If you have crash bars on your bike cut and split small sections of garden hose and zip tie to your crash bars. Slow speed drills until you drop your bike so you really know your failure points. Former motor officer here and I do this on my Goldwing and ST1300 at least 2 times a year. Just go through the harder drills from motor school. Plenty of good drills from instructors on KZbin.

When riding down city streets you should have you head on a swivel at EVERY intersection you come to, big and small, lighted or not, covering your brakes and clutch to be ready. Bikes can react much faster than cars and that is one of your only advantages. There are many more things to consider as well, you need like you said: "situational awareness". Because you CAN stop quicker than cars you need to be aware of vehicles behind you as well, getting rear ended isn't pleasant. Learning to ride on an off road bike that fits your size is the best learning tool I had growing up. You learn to crash, dodge, and deal with a lot of things you'll experience when you hit the streets all without killing yourself :) One tip I learned early on was when you see cars slowly rolling up to the sidewalk from parking lots. First start slowing down a bit and look them in the face to see if they see you, if they are looking away the best way to tell if they might pull out in front of you (besides just stopping in the street heh) is to look at their tires, it's much easier to tell if a car is moving from the tire rotation than it is to see the body moving. It may seem impossible to pay that much attention at all times but I am here with ike to say it is not, on the busy city streets your life depends on it. I lost a friend when we were young to someone that pulled right out in front of him from an apartment complex. Great video man!

Nashville had seven malls when I moved here in 2008. We're down to three. Wichita actually has a much better zoo than nashville. Wichita's Zoo is amazing. fyi In about 1993 or so when Sears was built, the mall was already slow. Sams and WalMart and all the businesses WEST killed it not so much the internet. West St. was showing age all along it. The internet was the death nail. There was a McDonalds where that church outreach center is located. It had a big play area with all the McD's characters. The mall had orange tile and a brass fountain in the center. Kellogg was not a freeway and you had this crazy long light out on West St. Took Wichita forever to get the freeway built.

Oil changes on any vehicle, the sooner the better. The viscosity of the oil breaks down over time and gets dirty, that's the point of why you change your oil frequently. The more often you change it the longer life you get out of the engine, because there is less grime causing unnecessary friction, gumming up your top end, and/or potentially blocking oil ports. I feel there are some who think the suggested length of life is best followed, which isn't bad or wrong, but it can definitely lower the life expectancy. It is also understandable if you can't afford to do oil changes more often because the cost is through the roof, but if you can afford it you're doing yourself and your engine a favor. Love the bike, can't wait to get my own 660!
