What a great time capsule! It's great to see the band's live version of this brilliantly shaped song. Much as I remember the exact shape of its different elements in the recorded version, they give great live in fleshing it out with sweat, hair, and body torque. However, as much as I love the drummer's selling the playing of the beats and Rodgers' mastery of the mic stand strut, one of my favorite moments is when the bassist is caught in perfect (re-)pose as he waits for his upcoming classic bass riff. I loved this music at the time, but there's nothing like revisiting it to make you realize how right you were to think it was something special.

If you consider how intense and thight is this performance, playing on TV and being just little more than a kid for the bass player - you realize how precious this is. Kossof's solo is absolutely stunning and coming from the soul (listen his vibratos ) - teaching so much from my point of view to most of guitar hero of that time. Fraser is just incredibly inspiring, he has just the control of the music coming the next seconds and manages to do what it really takes to make the perfect bass line + when the time comes for his solo he goes better to any other rock bass player to me. Amazing. Paul Rodgers voice is just so bluesy and hard , I love it / even though I know that loving a singer voice is a very personal thing. Drummer gives breath and strength to all the performance, so good.

Sorry but the camera work and directing here are atrocious. Mr Big has one of the best bass leads of all time and for much of Andy Fraser's solo they were concentrated on Kossoff and Rodgers (doing nothing) seemingly not knowing what was going on. So forget the visual,s and just listen, particularly if you own "Free Live".

Love the Andy Fraser of FREE. He does not "slap" the bass nor does he play "fast"; yet he gives the song what it EXACTLY NEEDS! By the way...what guitar pedals/amp/guitar settings did Paul Kossoff use here? help us to get that tone...please Thanks!

I guess I'm hyper-critical or something. This is a pretty good cover of that song, but it's lacking because of a couple things. It's like a 3-piece band trying to copy a 4-piece sound. I do like this version, but if they only had 2 guitars they could sound so much better. They are struggling here. Plus poor Paul Kossoff is struggling to remember how he recorded this,to copy himself. I can do a better job myself! Still, they put a lot of feeling into this performance. RIP - Paul Kossoff.
