the turorial is too fast and confusing, especially when creating the blueprint. didnt work for me. not sure what I did wrong

An absolutely incredible video, which I got really annoyed with simple because of how very fast proj Prod was going through it, I had to replay it many many times to fully understand what was being said, BUT, Yes I do now have a very much better understanding of Animation Workflows in unreal engine thanks to this video, definitely the only video that I have come across that explains it as good as this, but from around 9:30 on my mind was Blown, so much incredible information going in one ear and out the other, I realise that this is just an Overview Video, but if it were a... Full Blown Beginners/Intermediate Video on Animation Workflows, it would be the Absolute Best Video in the World on this Subject. Thank You

I found it hard to follow you at around 5:37 or so because you start opening windows but I can't see the very top of your screen to see what you actually opened. So from there I was lost in your whole tutorial. Also, when you were creating new retargeting chains, how do you know which ones to select as one chain to separate and how to name them?
@ProjProd4 күн бұрын
Sorry to hear that! At 5:37, I'm on the IK Retargeter Asset. Don't hesitate to use subtitles while you're watching, that could help you a lot! Usually you create chain based on their logic. For the leg you can start from the UpperLeg down to the foot for example. It will automatically suggest a name based on the chain you're creating. You can base your naming conventions regarding the IK Rig Asset of the Source Mesh for example. 🦾

I am using Unreal Engine 5.4's auto-retargeting to automatically retarget the animations of mannequins and the Gray Man to metahumans, but for some reason the angles of the arms and hands are a bit off. I would like to know how to fix this so that they are correctly retargeted to metahumans.
@ProjProd4 күн бұрын
You'll need to adjust further the retargeting operation using IK Rig and IK Retargeter Assets. Adjusting your chains, using IK Sovlers and other tools like that will help you getting the perfect retargeted animation. I've covered the topic in a previous video, hope it helps ! 🙌kzbin.info/www/bejne/honUZ3l-q8t5Y7s&ab_channel=ProjProd

Hi, and thanks for the great video. I have a problem. When I package my project and start the .exe, the game fails to run. No error screen, no nothing. Doesn't even show for a second in the windows task manager. No crash logs in the %localappdata%/game/saved/crashes folder. And also no errors while compiling. As soon as I disable the Animator kit plugin and rebuild, the compiled game runs ok. Is there something I'm missing? PS. I only enabled the plugin, haven't even used any of its modules in sequencer yet.
@ProjProd4 күн бұрын
The Animator Kit plugin is still in beta, so it’s not recommended to ship games with beta features, as they might cause issues like this. Even if you’re not actively using the plugin, once it’s activated, it will be included in the packaged .exe. ⚠️

Oh! I was watching the video to see how you problem solve the modular backward. Well While obviously that's a very viable solution it's still not trustworthy for big productions. Not only I see coworkers hesitating work with it but down the line it need a lot of trial and error when you need more complex animations. usually animations that requiring a lot of ik/fk switching or space/local interaction. Let's not even touch blend shapes for facials. That said.. I leeeeally believe and looking forward to the time that we will all work collectively and directly to Unreal and stop exporting/importing rigs and animations from DCCs and 1000 other sources. What Epic is doing with UE is _THE Gamechanger_! Awesome video man!
@chasescooper19 күн бұрын
FYI the modules backwards solve will be fixed in the 5.5.2 release coming very soon.

@@alexmaniotis2352 thanks so much for your support man ! So glad to read your feedback. Modular Control Rig is really new and yet very promising. It’s just a matter of time, and not so far from now, with new releases, everything should be fixed and ready for bigger production and even deeper and more complex pipeline. 2025 will be a milestone for studio in terms of adopting Unreal into their pipelines, I’m sure of it ! 🙏

Note that if you change a pivot point via modelling mode it is going to mess the position of your object if you decide to reimport it (e.g. an object is an fbx file and you decided to change it in blender and resave in this fbx file to later reimport in UE)

Thanks for the information! Would this method with IDs also work for individual light passes? For example: Excluding light sources other than Direct and Indirect?
@ProjProd4 күн бұрын
Thank you ! 🙌 I don't think that works with light passes. You don’t have the data to export lighting the way you would with offline renderers. At some point, it’s easier to re-render your shot after making fixes rather than adjusting too many things in post-production. That’s the beauty of real-time rendering! 😊
@Similarspaces4 күн бұрын
@ProjProd thanks for your reply! I come from C4D and mainly use stills combined with light passes that I then animate in post, but you're correct. With Unreal's quick real-time results, I'll be able to just do it all through here and export later. 🙏
