This is low-key the most depressing song I've ever heard. It's subtle: the lyrics are vague enough to apply to almost any situation, and it paints such a vivid picture of utter desolation and despair. This is not an ugly cry type of song; this is a song where the music ends, and you come back to yourself only to realize you've spent the last ten minutes lost in thought, chain-smoking, and watching the snow fall on a silent, dead landscape.

Such a hauntingly beautiful song. I remember it used to invoke all sorts of emotions in me many years ago. Glad I came back to it.

God where have I been for the last 2 years. The Gathering have returned to the peak of their powers & this song needs to be added to the latest album of Beautiful Distortion but this song for me is the peak with its Middle Eastern haunting refrain & bubbling electronics. A wonderful sonic gift & a million stars

Absolutely beautiful.

Silje is a great singer, I've been her fan since the Octavia Sperati days, seen her live a coupla times and knew she'd be huge soon. I'm happy for her. The Gathering is a happy case of a band that's kept on evolving musically without being massacred by their fans over the years. Not so many metal bands can say the same. Paradise Lost were nearly killed off by their electronic album Host back in the day, and other bands disappeared. But these dutch guys know how to do it!
