Wadding aside i was impressed with how increasing the powder from one to two pounds almost also doubled the distance. Seems like everything is working as it should to get that consistency--increase powder increase distance the same

My interest in bubbles started at a young age when I received a Mrs Potts and Chip bubble blowing toy in a McDonald’s Happy Meal. It was part of a set of toys to promote the special edition DVD release of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast in 2002.

How did they keep the lamps from exploding
@BealsScience
@BealsScience 9 күн бұрын
Great question! As the acetylene gas builds pressure in the chamber it pushed out the pinhole opening where it mixes with air. Because no oxygen is able to get into the chamber the gas within can’t burn (explode). If there was a hole where air could enter the chamber it is possible that the acetylene and oxygen mixture could explode. But, if this happened, it is likely that the top would pop off and wouldn’t be a forceful explosion.

I can confirm that it does work. I do this as a lab with my students. There are always some that don’t gel and always some that do. We spend some time discussing what variables may have caused them to not gel and there are a ton of little things that can cause it to happen.

kzbin.info/www/bejne/g6SbYn59dr15etE The explanation of pressure below atmospheric pressure in this video is incorrect. When air collides with a ball on its lower surface, its velocity decreases and its pressure increases. This will give the ball a force F1. This can be said to be a manifestation of Bernoulli's theorem. When air moves along the surface of a sphere, due to the fact that the sphere is a curved surface and the inertial motion path of air follows a straight path, the air tends to move away from the sphere along its normal, resulting in the generation of pressure below atmospheric pressure, thus creating another force F2. This is no longer the application of Bernoulli's theorem. The combined force of F1 and F2 kept the ball in the air. Reference article: qr.ae/pYN6qX

@BealsScience

I don’t have a recommendation for a 360 degree projector - they tend to be quite expensive. But, there might be some affordable options if you do some digging on the internet. If you find one, please share so we can let other people know. Thanks!

I’ve been doing some digging - I saw one video where they shine a regular projector at a chrome/mirror dome, like what security uses to get a wider view of spaces. It formed the picture to the dome well, from what I saw. That’s what I’m going to try once I get my dome put together.
