6:00 Porthcurno beach was once very important in communications, as all the undersea telegraph cables came ashore there. I think the first was the transatlantic cable. They tried for many years, but had trouble splicing the cables at sea. In 1859 IK Brunel launched the SS Great Eastern, designed to do England to Australia and back without refuelling. She was the biggest ship in the world until the Lusitania was built 50 years later. However, the Great Eastern was a commercial failure, until someone had the bright idea of ripping out all the cabins and loading her with 3000 miles of cable, so they could lay the transatlantic cable in one go. At the museum in Porthcurno, you can still see the hut near the beach where all the cables terminated with places like Bombay, Cairo, Cape Town on the labels.

Ian Brady and Myra Handley, the Moors murderers have got to be one of the worst, kidnapping, torturing and killing children, truly terrifying. Remember being frightened to go out when I was a lot younger until Peter Sutcliffe was caught and he is dead now.

As no-one seems to have mentioned it :) Thought I'd better say that these should, no must, be eaten covered with hot runny custard. However we will allow vanilla ice cream, especially for the sticky toffee pudding

I have a weird affinity with the SW Coastal Path. Half my family is from Weymouth, and I've lived there too, within less than a mile from the path. I have also lived in Minehead, where the path starts.

The Pennine way is a great hike in the UK. I did it with my dad and grandad when I was twelve. I didn't fully understand the length until part way through. With our public footpaths we have some great official walks and so many options to grab a map and create your own Never got down to do this walk and don't think I could even do it nowadays lol

I've walked from West Bay to Seaton while staying in Lyme Regis, Dorset. It's beautiful. Used to stay in Cornwall and Devon a lot too, some of the most beautiful views I've ever seen walking these coast paths.

If the NHS needs more money to reform and adapt to a bigger population than it was designed for originally, I have no issue being charged more in tax to achieve this. Tax is a bad word across the water in the states and I can understand why when the tax isn't trickled back into peoples lives instead spent on munitions to increase global political position. But to me over here, tax is what allows us to have these socialist systems while not actually becoming a socialist country.

The key indicator is that a lot of American's are descended from Irish immigrants, so any difference in punctuation would tend to follow the irish, who having their own dominant language would tend to punctuate as it looks. Hence also why different areas of America would say it differently, depending on the original make up of settlers. In most cases its just over punctuation of certain letters to change the sound, like JagUar, or JAguar. In Essex and the Southend region we are know of elongating vowels, where in the the midlands they often drop the T sound from a lot of words, Water becomes Waer, Kettering becomes Kering.

Big difference is our governing bodies regulate what is allowed or not and they put the restrictions on the producer, in the USA it’s the FDA, they are funded by the producers… Never tasting lamb is wild to me. Easter lamb roast is an annual tradition here (though we think lamb is expensive)

A cake is baked, most puddings are denser because they are steamed. The other difference is that they are usually served with a sauce, custard, cream, ice cream.

His first wife divorced him, and he remarried later to a woman he met at a steam fair who was the mother of Jack and Roger, but she eventually left Fred and divorced him, but he later married a third time, again to a woman who came to visit and see his garden workshop. She was quite a bit younger than him.

Wouldn't touch English-made black pudding if I were you. It's nasty tasting stuff full of large gobbets of fat. The English seem happy enough with it, but those who've tasted Scottish or Irish black pudding know where the good stuff comes from.

Forget baseball. That is CRAP. LISTEN to the reports. Home plate????? Doesn't it make the Americans IRRELEVANT in the scheme of world games? Plenty of countries (from the old British empire) all play this game and are good players. Why don't you check with Google for pictures of the bats? Learn something. It is not a pitcher but a batsman. I went to a baseball game. What a load of rubbish. Someone up in the control box tells the crowd what to do, scream at certain players, clap and cheer, boo the other team etc. What a dull idiotic game!!! You should STUDY the rules of cricket - FORGET that baseball crap. You all have a very short attention span. That is an illness!

Don't get the idea that there are huge differences in accents within a small area of Britain. It's just that locals can pick up small variations, and a few different words and phrases , that tell you where someone is from.

You should watch an episode of the TV comedy " Auf Wiedersehen Pet " which is about construction workers from all over Britain working in Germany. You will hear authentic strong Geordie, Scouse, Brummie, Cockney, and Welsh accents. This isn't a very good portrayal imo.

In the UK it is illegal to drink alcohol in public streets. Plus we have something similar if you are rowdy when drunk you can get done for antisocial behaviour which of course if that is broken police are called out to maintain peace

Spotted Dick The 'spotted' part is due to the raisins or currants studded all over it. The word 'dick' is said to have denoted a plain pudding and could be a shortening of pudding to 'ding', which then became 'dick'. Talk about lost in translation. The spotted dick is a traditional steamed pudding.

One good thing to remember on uk roundabouts it is the right hand right of way. So if you see a car on roundabout to your right or if see thr right hand junction next you it is thier right of way. But the vehicles on the left of you will wait for you. That is why traffic flows better with roundabouts because everyone knows who gets to go first

3:33 this system is in tesco too. At tesco if you have a clubcard, you can use one of these. A clubcard is where you collect points from your shopping, the more you shop the points you get. The points then get turned into money off vouchers later on. These hand held scanners add points to your account at the self service checkout. Hope that helps.
