Really this review is probably out of date, as you can no longer buy the backpack, but I thought I would give some thoughts on this backpack after 2 years of ownership. Good points about the backpack: Looks very professional Excellent materials Generally, very well put together Good space for 15" laptop and tablet The carry handle is very comfortable I love the amount of pockets the bag has. The bag is very well-padded I can put the bag on my roller suitcase. Areas where I have issues. The stitching on the water bottle pocket came loose (which I have repaired). Whilst, the shoulder straps are well padded, I do not find them the most comfortable to wear when the bag is full. Because the bag is so well padded, it is hard to fit a lot of stuff in the backpack. One of the plastic end pull zipper ties has come off (and the packs of 10, do not seem to be available to buy in the UK). Not the lightest backpack I have been a fan of Tenba bags for around 10 years and own 8 backpacks. This isn't my favourite bag, but it is useful for everyday use. Apart from a couple of minor niggles, it is a very good bag. Compared to more modern backpacks, it has aged a little, and I am sure if Tenba were to release an updated version of the backpack, then there would be some major changes. If you can find one second hand, at the right price, then it would be a good buy.

I’m pretty happy with the 6l bag. It’s more protective than all the other shoulder bags available in the market (I have almost all of them). On the other side, I agree that this shoulder bag is not the most comfortable one and it would have been better to have the anchor points slightly higher in the bag, instead of having them in the middle. A bottom pocket to hide the water proof bag would have been well appreciated too. For everyone that is complaining about the shoulder strap, you can easily fix your problem with a shoulder pad 😅

Would it be possible to fit a Sony 200-600mm G lens (unattached) in the 16L compartment? Thank you.
@TenbaBags2 ай бұрын
Well the short answer is no. The longer answer is yes, sort-of. The lens is about 13 inches long with caps attached. The camera compartment in the Fulton 16L is 11 inches tall. So it doesn't fit simply/easily. However, the padded divider separating the top rolltop compartment from the bottom camera compartment is removable, so the divider could be removed (or detached on one side) to allow the lens to extend into the top compartment. Again, not an ideal fit, but it could be done. If you're looking for 200-600mm compatible alternatives, you could check the Axis v2 16L (no laptop sleeve, but a killer slim bag loved by pros), the new Solstice v2 16L Sling Bag (again, no laptop), the Solstice v2 20L Backpack (14-inch laptop), and the Solstice v2 24L Backpack (16-inch laptop).

This is definitely the first time we've heard a complaint like this. Gravity keeps things in a messenger bag. And the design of a messenger bag is to have a flap over the top, without a zipper, for quick access. So it would definitely require some care and attention if stored sideways, but that is true of any messenger bag.

Hi, is the interface/layer between the top and bottom compartment (camera zone) removable AND adjustable in height? On the 16L version, is the belt pack removable or can be stowed? Thanks you
@TenbaBags5 ай бұрын
The divider between the rolltop section and the camera compartment is removable. Whether it is adjustable sort of depends on your definition of that. If it moves up its default location, there is no velcro on the interior face to connect the divider to, as the rolltop interior is not velcro-compatible. However, it can certainly kick upwards to allow a camera lens combination that is slightly taller. If it is lowered into the camera section, it would not connect to the interior of the rear door, but it would still be connected in three sides, so it would hold. And yes, the belt is completely removable.
@alvinbartolome12395 ай бұрын
@@TenbaBags Very satisfied with my 14L in black/camo. Perhaps in the next iteration, the zippers could be lockable/fuzed, the small straps at the top and sides can be those like seatbelt in material as they glide easily in buckles, and an outside hidden zippered pocket somewhere that can take a slim wallet or a phone. But overall, I am stoked with my first roll-top bag.

is it possible to use ULANZI F38 Camera Backpack Clip V2 on the shoulder strap or it will be uncomfortable to do it ?
@nycgeo185 ай бұрын
Absolutely. The Ulanzi F38 clip (V2) can handle a strap as large as 3" in width and about .5" in thickness. The Solstice V2 strap is 2.5" at its widest, and its compression molded EVA foam is less than .5" thick. You should have no problem with this setup.

This bag looks quite good but I really wish the logo was different or not visible on the exterior of the bag as it exudes generic mall brand energy. It would have also been nice to see a magnetic pull top flap instead of the velcro. I'm worried about security for the top zippers. Otherwise the shape and form factor is incredibly well done and the best you guys have designed so far amongst all your bags. Perhaps adding more points of adjustment on the straps could be the icing on the cake. Please consider these changes for the future as a rebrand and focus on details could really send this bag brand to the next level.
@TenbaBags5 ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. A few notes in response. Magnets at the top wouldn't allow the flap to attach to multiple points, at least not without using multiple strong magnets, which get heavy. Velcro is reliable and virtually weightless, and you can stick it anywhere, so it's a good match for the intended purpose. Speaking of weight, adding more strap adjustments can drastically change the weight and complexity in the back, and of course Tenba offers packs like Axis that have all this, but Solstice was intended to be minimalist and lightweight. These packs just *feel* different as a result of their sort-of dialed-in simplicity. Thanks again for the positive feedback on the shape and form factor.

Hi there! I’ve had the pleasure of testing this sling for the past 6 months. The interior configuration of the 12L comes with three full width dividers and two short “flaps”, all are removable and repositionable. The 16L has the same configuration with an extra flap and an extra full width divider. You can split the sling into as many as three distinct spaces (four on the 16L), and can fit a body with attached lens and two extra lenses in the 12 L and three extra lenses in the 16 L . if you take off the dividers out, you can fit a body with long zoom lens attached into the empty sling case, using the dividers to stabilize the camera. Personally, I found it to be extremely usable and highly configurable. I absolutely loved both sizes.
@bexhillrotary36504 ай бұрын
I just got the 16L which looks to be very well thought out but I pick up the removable dividers and wonder what's the best thing to do with them. I know they are meant to be customisable but I'd hope someone at Tenba worked out some optimal ways to use them. I'm particularly puzzled by the double, grey, dividers, which have velcro to attach to the case (I presume) yet there is no way the two parts can attach at the same time as the velcro liner is only on opposing sides of the bag - hope I've explained that clearly. I really want to know my 100-400 is secure and won't start moving around and crashing into anything else I'm carrying.
@nycgeo184 ай бұрын
@@bexhillrotary3650 The way I use mine with extra long lenses is to fold them in half and use them as vertical stabilizers for the front of the lens optic. There are many ways to customize the foldable, structural grey dividers in the 16L sling, to accomplish most any configuration of interior separation I can think of.
