I wouldn't sell any equipment that is paid off. You might not be using it everyday, but there will come a time when having a spare trailer or vehicle just sitting in the yard will come in handy.

In 2000 I started an equipment rental company. I purchased a used 1997 freightliner fld120. I ran it in so cal for 10 years. Then I used it to start my oilfield business in Texas. In 22 I sold it for almost what I paid for it because everyone was getting into trucking. Somehow I always thought I was going to keep that old girl forever. But like someone else posted, everything is always for sale. Just offer me the right price. ✅️

Welcome to the family Cesar you got a great trailer. I was looking at a diamond C, which was lighter than the PJ equivalent but now I’m gonna have to look up this brand and see if it’s even lighter than the diamond seat with the same specs.

I have a 2004.5 dodge 3500. I will never own anything with def, older trucks are more reliable. That's why most owner-operators are buying 2000 or older semi trucks and putting the money into them.

Damn good video and information. They are blessed to have you in their corner to help them. Props to you for being the person that you have been to help everyone just as you've helped me. Prayers out to Eddie and hopefully he gets his pickup going right. My belief is there is no such thing as a warranty. The dealers will fight nail and tooth not to cover it and then when and if they do, it's fixed half ass just to get it out of the shop, again strictly my opinion with SOME dealerships. Exact reason why I won't buy a new truck. ALL the brands have their own issues, pick one. I wish him well and hope that he gets it squared away. Thank you for the information👍

Natalie... here we go again, Back when I started my Hot Shot business in the 1970's. The Good ole gasoline days. Chevy was the war horse. The standard engine in Chevy was 454 big block. I didn't like nor ever have liked Chevrolet. I bought a used 1976 Ford F350. Came with a 390 V8. Long story made short. My F350 got a 460 V8. I put in a working 5 spd transmission from a 1968 international trailer toter. With a 2 spd rear axel. But this was after a lot of hit and miss loads. By the 1980's I was still a Ford man. Many of my buddies were still running Chevy. Mind you we were work a lot of oil field hot shot runs back then. I live in Dallas. I would haul oil field parts and equipment out to Odessa Texas. The dispatchers got wind when any of got out that way... and was hell to keep up. There oil rigs needing parts or support all over Texas. Then the day came in 1982 when a drunk marine hit me head on with 32000 lbs of sucker rod on my trailer. Bent my Gooseneck on my trailer totaled my truck. You are correct about having money in reserve. That's another story for another's time. Just know I 've been there done that. Still at it today.

I think Eddie's story is the story of many owner/ops. Trucking, semi or hotshot, is an expensive, unforgiving venture with HIGH volatility with respect to return on investment. That said, Natalie, this really speaks volumes about your staying power in trucking; which is amazing! I've watched you grow over the years and you make it look easy. However, based on my own financial experience with trucking, I know it's far from easy. That's why I traded my CDL for nursing school....LOL! Anyway, I wish you continued success and I'm certain God will place Eddie where he is truly supposed to be. God ALWAYS has a plan for our lives; most times, it's beyond our comprehension. Nonetheless, it's the BEST plan. Stay safe.....stay strong!

Hello Natalie in your reply to my question about Eddies Ram that he had. You said it had a Allison trans. Dodge did not use Allison trans. They use the model 68rfe or the model Aisin. I know a lot of people mistake then. Do you know what year the ram was. Thanks.

Hello Natalie Getting back to Eddies Ram is there a chance that you might know what year the truck was. The reason i am asking is i just bought a ram 4500 with a Aisin. This truck has engine problems, but the trans has 240,000 miles. I am just trying to factor out if i should go threw the trans while i am building a new engine.

Where did all the money go from when he was doing 10 grand a week? Also the $100k 2024 post Covid POS truck with all the bells and whistles was a stupid idea for a work truck. They're overpriced junk now built with too many Chinesium parts. And he found out the real problem with these newer ones...the dealers cant fix them and a lot of the parts are back ordered, because too many of them had parts failures.

If you could get any input to his problems.

He had a 3500 with Cummins and Allison trans He had issues with that truck from the start as well, the trans went out on that one at 3500 miles and had to go back to dealership for new trans his first run doing hotshot It doesn't matter the brand, some will work well and others won't

I have a 7.3 powerstroke and a 5.9 Cummins motor that I keep for fun. I use MTZ Engine Rebuilders in Houston. They are good honest people. If you need a transmission rebuilt or upgraded Circle D Transmission is the best. Most dealers area ripoff. Buy a cab and chassis without the motor and have a motor and transmission built for your needs.

Soo. How much money you need in the bank account to get started working for yourself in the hotshot industry
@HotshotAdventures5 күн бұрын
How much are you willing to gamble ? Transmission on a 2 yr old truck cost you $7k Turbo cost you $4k Engine cost you $12k Insurance down-payment cost you approx $5k Depending on what deals you make and what you buy, truck, trailer, and insurance will cost you approx $5k/month So in my opinion, if you don't have at least 6 months worth of savings in the bank, it's too much of a gamble to start.

Bad diesel would never affect a turbo! I would have sent someone out to test the diesel fuel! And you could have no turbo and it would start up! Should have got it out of there right away!

I know few people about Chevy problems as of late. To replace the timing belt and the cost is couple of grand. Then there is safety sensor inside the engine that only dealerships be able to fix.
