Is there a way to superimpose a digital HUD on top of the FPV feed using a SpeedyBee F405 Wing? I want to fly FPV only using basic instruments.

Hate bothering you since you’re going on deployment (endured a few), but I can’t find info on the air data display that’s sitting in the front cockpit. Can you help me out? I hope it’s not part of a flight controller? I’m currently setting up my first FPV airplane. I am using a Spektrum Tx & Rx and DJI 03 Air Unit and I have the Motionsic gear, but was hoping to be able to see altitude & airspeed info (w/o going to a flight controller). Any info you can offer would be appreciated greatly!! Good luck on deployment!! May you return on schedule!! 😊

No worries! its negative on the deployment probably shouldve clarified, I'm an SNA that just got classed up for Primary so i'll be getting pretty busy locking in learning to fly for real in hopes that i may end up getting to go jets if luck and timing works out. The display i made was an arduino project i did myself using an Arduino nano every board. A 1.69inch IPS display and a M10Q GPS. I can send you more information on it if you want just reach out to me @ [email protected] I can try and walk you through it.

It ended up being something with the right wing. It was bent funny and produced less lift than the left wing. Swapped it out and no issue after that haha

Just been watching your brilliant flying have you tried putting expo on your fpv headtracker servos so you get smooth left to right tracking I found when I move my head left to right it's jerky watching vid back I've put 25% and it's lot smoother
@FlightheroRCАй бұрын
Yes I have actually! Imo Theres no way to fly fpv without some degree of expo in the servos! Check out this video to see what I've got set up! :kzbin.info/www/bejne/oXmqeXuVjLaBp7ssi=7WPxmsIlohWoDW

@FlightheroRC and u have delay too which is good idea
@FlightheroRCАй бұрын
@@stevejamelskyj5761just a slight delay ~0.2 seconds just due to the fact that our heads will move slightly sitting still it keeps the head tracker from feeding in all those movements

Now if only I could figure out how to get airspeed and altitude displays, I'd be set! That's a great video... I'm on my first FPV aircraft and learning to fly (better), but I put it on an EDF sport glider. While the landing experience (has wheels, uses runway) is of course much different, the compilation of landing videos looks like a great tool for analyzing and improving!
@FlightheroRCАй бұрын
The data display was an in-house project. I was originally gonna sell them but I'm thinking about just starting a website where you can buy the code for like 5$ and with links to the parts and instructions on how to build it. I think someone else has a website where if you have a flight controller you can buy a much more detailed display but the name of it slips my mind atm the only difference between his and mine are that mine are stand alone. So if you're old school like me you don't have to fool around with a flight controller to get the readouts you want
@BrestaeАй бұрын
@@FlightheroRC Well... you're speakin my language.... I hate the whole flight controller thing... they're like brown 'n serve bread.... half baked. I'd kill for a standalone solution similar to yours. Until then, I'm just going to take inspiration from your setup, and at least mount my little GPS speedometer on the dashboard where I can see it. I just wish it could display altitude and speed at the same time. As is, I set up voice altitude readouts from my transmitter steadily, which is fine for staying airborne but not "real time" enough for low altitude flight or landings. Another bonus (for me) on your video.... I've been contemplating FPV'ing a jet, and I like the F-16's due to the nice bubble-top canopy with no seams across the field of vision. Didn't think the tinted canopy would be good either, but looks like it works great in your video!
@FlightheroRCАй бұрын
@@Brestae do you have any experience with arduino? If you know how to Solder I'll send you a copy of my code and then all you have to do is flash it onto the board & get the parts to make it all work. Also the F16 stock canopy is excellent for visibility as long as you clean it every few flights. The V2 canopy is even clearer than the V1. And better for low light applications I can't fly at night very well due to the tint but if I get the V2 it'll be a bit easier.
@BrestaeАй бұрын
@@FlightheroRC Afraid no experience with arduino. Done a little coding and a lot of scripting in various languages over the years. But I've flashed firmware into a multitude of machines, and started off my career as a h/w guy, so I still have a 30 yr old butane soldering iron in my tool grip that's laid down miles of solder!
@FlightheroRCАй бұрын
@@Brestae gotcha. Tell ya what send me your email I'll send you a diagram for my set up. Links to the parts I use and I'll include the code for you as well. Arduino is free to download so if you've got a computer that has a USB connector you should be able to flash the script onto the board and then Solder the connections to get it working properly. And once you're done just plug the board into any 5v port on the aircraft and after a couple of minutes on the first start up you should have 12 satellites and a good connection for accurate information.
