The FM2 is a great spare camera. It's viewfinder is shockingly bad though, particularly for spectacle wearers.

Great Video. May I ask your recipe for the double x film with Fujifilm SPD? I have an expired package of SPD. Could the double x be pushed to 1600 or 3200 with the SPD?

Steven, Contax Shooter since 1990 here. I asked Zeiss a couple years ago, when the ZX1 compact camera was being released, if they don't want to revive the brand, because into 2032 - it would be 100 years of Contax ! Sadly, they said no..so depressive. I like the colors, nowadays one would say "vintage" look. Lovely samples, well made. I prefer lens character always over clinical sharpness. Pixel peepers aren't being photographers, simply. These ppl are gearheads, -collectors, watching at 200-400%, seaching for all kind of optical flaws & defects, at F/1.4 at the very edges, etc. I have this lens since decades, it should being used with a lens hood. I don't need, nor want Leica. If you compare the 2006 Zeiss Distagon 35/1.4 ZM, it's still better, than even the 3-times more expensive Leica 35/1.4 M Summilux ASPH FLE lens...albeit bigger. But no glow, and better microcontrast & sharpness. Especially if you're german, you either way love Leica or Zeiss. For myself, it's simple Zeiss, since my teenager days, for life. It's a shame, Zeiss isn't creating any new photography lenses anymore - The Milvus series a couple of years ago was the last series for DSLRs, and then Loxia for Sonys E-Mount...and then came the Sony G-Master series, and no more new Zeiss lens designs anymore. It seems nowadays, Zeiss is only producing (way more) expensive Cinema lenses...these days...sad, but true.

I bought a standard F4 this year (My Preference) I don't need more fps.. I bought my first Nikon F camera in 2019; an absolutely mint N2020.. after only a few rolls I was hooked on the Nikon AF system. Slow quirky and noisy but I didn't miss many shots; it always seemed to focus exactly on what I wanted it to focus on (Unlike my much newer Olympus OM-D EM1 mk2).. So the Olympus went and I said hello to a Nikon D2X for much, much less money... My F4 is a beauty too and is in virtually mint condition so now I'm concentrating on buying some Nikon lenses to use on all three cameras... I really liked the relaxed tone of these videos; subscribed.

Hi. You are not photographing the right side of your film. One thing you learn in photography school is that you never photograph a slide or negative through the film base. The emulsion side should always be facing the camera. You will get a reversed image from right to left and then you can just do a batch process to reverse all the images automatically.

Enjoy your channel. I'm a very old pro, about a third of my shooting is 35mm (I prefer bigger negatives when possible). However, after countless rolls of film, I never had a F3 or F2 fail on a shoot. The quality of those cameras is unbelievable and having a 100 Percent finder is a must in my work. It is probably just me, but I personally prefer my F2's over my F3's.

I have that Nikon F4 standard ... Grip ... to make my Nikon F4 I will pay $200 Canadian to get the Nikon F4 six AA battery grip ... looks more sexy and kinda makes Nikon 4 heavier that's when we weed out the wimps and the pros ... cuz when it comes to the standard Nikon F4 and a 80 - 200 ED push pull zoom lens W NIKON USERS DONT NEED any wimps because the camera is too heavy bud ... you want something light ... cheap buy all plastic frame and gears the Canon AE-1 ... after that lane camera came out only year after the Minolta XD came out which should have blown away the Canon 81 which was made out of Total Plastic lol which the Minolta XD was totally made out of metal had P / A and Manual ... I'm saying that Nikon was the best in the 70s and 80s yeah sure they came out with a heavy camera the Nikon F4 you want cheap or you want something that's actually said to everyone we engineer the best at the time We won't cut corners will look outside of ... Nikon will never do this ever again no other company in the camera business will ever do this again ... Lica camera company and Minolta did it once With Miolta XD RD Spells Research and Development and Lica ... took Took Minolta camras R&D and Lica came out with M4 , M4 M5 and it was never repeated again ... I'm saying is Nikon make the perfect 35mm camera Personally I don't like Nikon as a digital camera company today ... Wish Minolta was still around making top of the line cameras

There is a lot about the requirement for Indexing the early Nikon metering systems that you just do not understand. Take your Nikkormat for example. With this model you had to set the aperture to f5.6 to get the pin to line up but after the lens is locked in place you had to then Index the lens with the meter in the camera body. To do this you must swing the Aperture ring to the smallest setting (the highest number) and then swing the aperture ring back to the largest Aperture (lowest number). I suggest that you start reading the manuals for these early metering systems in order to obtain a complete understanding of how to use these systems. The reason that Indexing was required was that pin in a notch coupling. In order to insure that pin would fall into the notch when mounting the lens you had to preset the Aperture Ring to an opening that was smaller than the maximum aperture for the lens. Nikon didn't anticipate that they would ever make a lens with a maximum opening smaller than f5.6 so that is why f5.6 is the magic number for mounting the lens. As a result you then had to Index the aperture ring to the meter in the body. Later on they foresaw the possibility for a zoom lens with a maximum aperture of f8 and change the design of the coupling to a one sided tab. This provided multiple benefits, the cost for the Indexing geartrain was eliminated, lenses became a bit faster/easier to mount, and it permitted lenses with maximum apertures as small as f8.

I've got a reflex lens Sigma 400mm f4, and still looking for a new one. Nowdays no lens brand, which produces reflex lens, until I see this, unfortunately the sharpness of this lens seems not having enough progress if we compare with the old reflex lens. even the bokeh is not creamy as I expected. thank you for making this video.
