That's some pricey upgrades, I'm sure it sounds as good as it looks. The Gotoh is a decent bridge for around $35 bucks I paid; well made, great plating, no problem at all getting the intonation spot on. The Hipshot on my bb234 bass needed longer fillister head screws for the D & G strings among other tweaks. Recently though, been looking hard at the Indonesian Squires too. Thanks for watching!

Hi, thanks for the video. I would like to do the same upgrade on my bass, but I like the action of the strings very low. In your opinion, would there be a problem with this as fret noise?
@thisoldmanchannel2 ай бұрын
Hello and thanks for watching. How low you can go depends on your style. Me I love to bang on those strings. The other thing is that the thickness of the this model Gotoh Bridge and the saddles really limits how low you can go. The TRBX174 has a really solid and stable neck...If you want to go really low, see a professional and get it setup exactly the way you want it and that may require some fret leveling etc.

Man I would love to figure out how to build a couple of these with a 12s3p battery configuration so I could use them as auxiliary batteries for my electric skateboard. Just bought the same amp used. Do you think it sounds decent? I know you said it sounded pretty good but after listening for awhile did you upgrade it or still using? Going to use this at my computer so I’ll be really close.
@thisoldmanchannel8 ай бұрын
System is still the same set up because it's so small and so versatile with multiple inputs and a remote control so that I don't have to get up to change the volume or mute to pick up a phone call. What's really going to give you the most pleasure though is the speakers you choose and with a computer set up, speaker height and distance speaker to speaker in relation to your ears will have a huge impact on your listening enjoyment, same as a full blown hifi system. Same rules apply. The other critical factor is the speakers you choose, plus you can add a mini powered subwoofer. My little system would sound so much better in terms of imaging if I had room to place the speakers farther apart since my listening position is so far back, but there is no room for that in my room. Even so the quality of sound is very good for a bedroom system. I think your system is going to sound great when you're done tweaking it.

Really cool project. Have you considered using the LiFePo4 batteries? I wonder how many amp hours you could get into this box and it would be lighter and the battery will almost last forever
@thisoldmanchannel10 ай бұрын
Hello Bruce. Agreed lithium is the way to go but I'm kinda on a fixed income and the gel cell was around $22. Parts are readily available on line but people build these things to suit their own needs so it's really a matter of preference. If this is your first build, go with a larger box as it's easier to work with. Took me a while to figure out how to put the smaller box together. Thank you for commenting and especially for watching.
