That's really cool... As a dad, best gift you'll ever get is to see a little bit of yourself in your kids. It's part of the magic of life... Your dad will love it because you made it for him.

How is power getting to the indicator light at 9:26? There's no fuse installed? And the fuse feeds the switch, which feeds both the indicator light and the positive terminal? I don't see how you're getting power to the indicator light without the fuse??? (I'm not criticizing in any way... just trying to figure this out.)

Ahhhhhhh... I figured it out. The fuse panel LED (plus it's Voltage dropping resistor) is wired in parallel with the actual fuse. That creates a secondary path for power to flow. Under "normal" circumstances, the path THROUGH the fuse has far less resistance than the path through the LED (and it's voltage dropping resistor.) That means the fuse box LED will be off. But when the fuse blows... the only path available is through the LED (and it's series resistor.) So that turns on the fuse box LED, and sends a very small voltage onward to the outside indicator light. Those fusebox LED's really help to diagnose WHICH fuse has blown, but they allow a tiny bit of power to flow towards the load in order for that LED to actually function. It's not a big deal. I was just trying to wrap my head around how the outside light could possibly be on at that point of the build, without a fuse. It all makes sense now. Nice job!!!! Keep up the great work!

How are you charging this unit ?

SAE charging port in the rear goes right to battery. Using Battery Tender Junior Charger with an inline fuse. You can just as easily use a lithium battery and charger.... Very tidy battery box.
