Love the conversion. I did something similar but only added carpet to the raiser. If I did again, I would do the whole room like you. Wish I could do carpet installation. You made it look pretty simple but I have no tools that you used. Great job!

Hi Chris, sorry I don't have a video but I used screws with washer and used the tie ropes to tie them down at the corner. Hope that helps!

Love the design! I few tips to consider for next time: - Use star flat-head wood deck screws for the 2x4 frame. They go in like butter with no need for pilot holes. Just make sure you go easy or they will go right through the boards. - Get a pocket hole jig and use it to attach the roof frame (5:13min). - Pre-cut the angles for your roof support posts (4:00min) before installing. - I think the bar top tiny 2x4 side piece supports (6:17min) could have been done more securely. Turn them on edge and attach to back side of bar wall.

Thank you for sharing. I like how you didn't remove some of the things that went wrong. Every project has it's hangups. Also nice to see a father bonding with his son. That's the most important project.

do u remember what brand of wood/name and color this is for the bedframe itself (not the slats)? its beautiful and looks smooth, also because it may be cheaper than what I pick out. thanks!
@luvurpassion2 жыл бұрын
I think it was standard Douglas fir (the cheapest) from Home depot. I really checked many pieces before choose what I liked :-). Also, really sanded well with a series of grits from course to smooth. Good thing is, it's still working so well and now it's used regularly. I stained it later and used a clear semi-gloss polyurethane layer on top of that.

When using the pocket hole jig your drill bit isn’t suppose to come out the other end. Makes it weaker

A 2x6x8 board cost $25 lmao
@luvurpassion2 жыл бұрын
Truly lumber price has been crazy. I think in my local HomeDepot sells 2x6x8 for about $11 now, it used to be around $3-4 when I built it. So, now the total lumber price must be at least 3x.

Nice job. How much do you think the same lumber would cost now?
@luvurpassion2 жыл бұрын
Good point! The lumber cost is so higher. 2x4s used to cost ~$2, and are now $5+ I think. So I think the cost will be at least twice than before :-(

what weight do you think it can hold including the mattress? hoping for at least 350lbs so i can put it in guest bed room and not have to worry :)
@luvurpassion2 жыл бұрын
I think that should be okay. I had someone about 200lb+ sleeping on it plus mattress with no problem. If you want to make it stronger, you might want to have wider/thicker slats.
