Great design for person living in dorm. Can disassemble and carry in a sedan car. Thank you for complete drawing with each piece of lumber.

Went looking for a platform bed for my 8 year old son. Talk about sticker shock! I’d rather make your sturdy design out of solid wood! Thanks for taking the time to share this great design!

I did end up building this. It came out fantastic, looks great and my son loves it! The only thing I found with the material list is that he says to purchase 4 2x4x8. I purchased four, but only needed two. Other than that, materials and plans were spot on! Build it! You’ll like it!

Hello and thank you for your very helpful video. I am looking 4 a design to put in the back of my CargoVan conversion. I will put it in the back of the cargo area and it will be high enough to have a “garage” underneath the van so I can use This area for storage. I’m converting this van to use while I travel accross USA and perhaps Canada. I live in Northern Ca and I’ve looked at so many twin size bed versions but yours was very easy for me to understand and it will work best for my needs. Thanks again for great post.

what weight do you think it can hold including the mattress? hoping for at least 350lbs so i can put it in guest bed room and not have to worry :)
@luvurpassion2 жыл бұрын
I think that should be okay. I had someone about 200lb+ sleeping on it plus mattress with no problem. If you want to make it stronger, you might want to have wider/thicker slats.

Also what size is the leg attached
@kidalovelace2 жыл бұрын
do u remember what brand of wood/name and color this is for the bedframe itself (not the slats)? its beautiful and looks smooth, also because it may be cheaper than what I pick out. thanks!
@luvurpassion2 жыл бұрын
I think it was standard Douglas fir (the cheapest) from Home depot. I really checked many pieces before choose what I liked :-). Also, really sanded well with a series of grits from course to smooth. Good thing is, it's still working so well and now it's used regularly. I stained it later and used a clear semi-gloss polyurethane layer on top of that.

@@luvurpassion thanks for the reply, now I know what kind of wood to buy and materials. I've never built anything a day in my life but this video makes me less intimidated 🤗

How long are the legs of the bed?
@luvurpassion3 жыл бұрын
They are 2"x6" studs and I cut them about 8" at the bottom with an angle to make it stronger.
@marag21314 жыл бұрын
can you request home depot or lowes to cut those leg pieces slanted like that? I don't have a saw :(
@luvurpassion4 жыл бұрын
No harm in asking! :-) Otherwise, you want try without slanting it also. One alternative is to buy a circular saw, clamp the wood to a work table and cut it. Please use safety.

When using the pocket hole jig your drill bit isn’t suppose to come out the other end. Makes it weaker

After you made the frame did you put the mattress in only or did you put in the box mattress as well?
@lmd62044 жыл бұрын
With these beds, it's not necessary to use a box frame, just the mattress.
@luvurpassion4 жыл бұрын
You don't need a bed frame/spring, you can directly put mattress on it.

How much weight the bed can carry? is it strong?
@luvurpassion4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching our video. If you see the design at our website luvurpassion.com/diy-twin-platform-bed/, the weight is on the 2"x6" legs, not on screws or something like that. That makes is strong. I have personally tried it, it feels good and strong.

@@titianarasputin I got it from HD last year before Thanksgiving before I needed an extra bed for my visiting family. Truly lumber price has been crazy. I think in my local HomeDepot sells 2x6x8 for about $11 now, it used to be around $3-4 when I built it. So, now the total lumber price must be at least 3x.
