How interesting to see the connections between Cambridge and the Amiga - not only the TRIPOS/BCPL link, but also I'm thinking of Keir Fraser's wonderful contribution of Amiga Test Kit. Keir I believe co-developed Xen during his PhD at Cambridge.

Oh dear, I don't like them using black for voltage and red for one of the grounds... it's kind of unavoidable when you decide to make the insulation match the RGBW colour scheme, but jeez.

Damn, you put your actual managers in there! I'd hate working in an open-plan hellscape like that too, to be fair. (Good on you for blurring their faces now though.)

Whoa, you actually had their permission! I'd totally not expected that to be shown at an official event, I thought it was a private vent! Perhaps shown to friends, I thought that's what the LAN party aside was leading to. I can totally understand how someone who wasn't in on the joke could be disturbed, especially if they'd been heavily following that item on the news. (Though I've got to say, I am proud that it led to stricter regulations. In stark contrast to some places...)

This was a great talk about some of the people who where behind the Amiga and its greatness, Amiga was a machine that inspired a lot of people to do more with their computers in its simplistic design with amazing fundamentals, Thanks for the Talk guys!.

When I bought my 2000 back in 1987 I had such high hopes due to its expandability. Add more memory, hard drive, cd drive, a/v equipment, even turn it into a PC!!! What I didnt realize is just how expensive it would be. Wasnt long before one could build a PC for about what a bridge card/hard drive combo would cost with the bonus of a second PC!! I quickly came to realize I would have been better served to have purchased an Amiga 500. On the plus side of things over the years since I have been able to trick my original Amiga out with all kinds of expansion cards for a fraction of the original price.

I could only find 1.5 A (32V and 0603) fuses available for purchase. Any issues with that? Or it has to be 0.5A?

I had one of these games. After about a week, the ball kept disappearing from the screen, although you could still hear it bouncing. I returned it for a refund. I must have been about 17 then!

I think the biggest problem is the fact sellers actually choose Hermes for shipping. It’s like they want the parcel to be lost or broken

We need instructions on how to replace optics with copper or how to eliminate the factor of one wire and make two, ordinary ones. For example, insert a regular HDMI but have a second soldered USB.

This brings back memories from my childhood years. I’m 52 now. I had this game but I don’t remember how I parted with it. But I do remember I had so called friends back then who was stealing from me, behind my back. Unfortunately, being naive back then, it took me a while to cotton on what was happening before I put a stop to it. By then I’d lost so much stuff. Nintendo - Game & Watch games and other toys too. I was recently looking on eBay and I’ve seen Firefox F-7 and Nintendo’s advertised for sale there, some in fair condition and some in mint condition, but the price isn’t what it use to be. 😂

Hi there! I got an oculus rift S yesterday at a thrift store. My cable still works fine but I saw the cable was proprietary, so I started digging into this in anticipation of the issues. I am wondering: maybe a simpler fix would be to remove/replace the 42 pin connector from the headset and replace it with a non-proprietary alternative. I don't know as much about the pinout as you do, but it seems like there would be a lot more leeway soldering on the pcb than in any of the super fine wires, and there are many cheap headsets around to work with. If I could get it working with a displayport and usb port on the headset, the cable length issue could be handled separately.

I was working at Olivetti in 1995, in Milton Keynes if i remember correctly, installing Windows 95 on the at the time new Envision computers, and my main recollection was the number of blue screens I encountered while installing Windows. Actually, my main memory of the time was how many times they used to play Bjork's song, "It's oh so quiet" or whatever it was called on the radio. They played it a lot!

Great video, stumbled upon it a bit late. But recently I got off work and am trying to repair this cable, I ran over it with my chair. Yeah, jezus. And I can't seem to distinguish USB from DisplayPort. Do you have any blueprint or notes that would tell me which wires go from the headset connector to the splitter, which are the USB cables. Because when I plug the headset in it says "Sensors, not working, faulty USB 3.0" Soo... I probably crushed a USB cable. But for the life of me I don't know which is which. I'll try to strip down the USB cable and maybe figure out which cables are going there. The optic seems fine, no bent or faded color in the semitransparent white shell. The ground wire is a bit flattened but it looks fine ish.

how soon will the second part be out? I'm also wondering if you have a complete cable pinout? As far as I know, there were options with all-copper wires from RIFT S.
