Its kinda surreal seeing you with riding a 73 Honda XL250 and driving that econoline van. My dad raced enduros in the '70s on his beloved '72 XL250 and had an econoline van just like yours that he would take it in to the races! So cool!

I have a '72 Honda XL250 I am restoring. I happened to find this video and noticed yours is an XL250 also! I am planning to make dies for pressing muffler halves to copy the original muffler but using stainless as well. Trying to keep an original look with more flow and much better durability than original. You did an awesome job on that exhaust , BTW!

If I remember your build right, you used a TL250 bottom end for the trials gear box. It sure tractors through the rough stuff like it does. Nice ride. I did that trail once while in the Air Force, stationed at the now closed George AFB, in Victorville, CA. Rode an '81 XL500, fully loaded with camping gear. Wish I had the balls to do it again at 66 years old, but I think those days are behind me. My first ever motorcycle I bought with my own money was a '72 XL250. Very capable ride.
@OneDownFourUp

That’s cool! It’s definitely not an easy trail especially with camping gear. The TL gear ratios are good for the type of riding I do where it’s slower on the trails but still has higher gears for the road.

I have got plastic fuel tank on my tractor that has a split seam or crack in it, I was thinking of possibly doing a little plastic welding but also putting a liner in it the only problem is it is diesel so I'm concerned that the plastic is impregnated with diesel enough that I will never get a good adhesion to it
@OneDownFourUp
@OneDownFourUp Жыл бұрын
You would need to remove the tank to be able to coat the inside on all sides. May be able to clean the diesel with acetone or similar just would take time to get it cleaned.
