How does the overlay sprocket combination work? Do you stop and change chain and switch sprickets?

I use the larger sprocket when I will just be riding off-road. I have a small length of chain that I add in when I use the larger sprocket.

What yss shocks did you get for this? I’m having trouble finding a pair that claims to fit a 74 xl250

I just found these on eBay, I believe they were for a TL. They would be too long if you XL has stock suspension though. I believe they are around 390mm.
