In my opinion the wood duck is one of the coolest birds in the world. They certainly can compete with any animal for the title of “Worlds Most Gorgeous/Beautiful”. I have heard that the wood ducks in lower Michigan often seek out the Pilated Woodpecker’s holes in trees to use as nests. Awesome video.

@@mybackyardfriends7326 And my compost pile also provides cover for black snakes which help keep the mice population down! Last year I had 3 black snakes take up accommodations in my compost pile. They too are important to the neighborhood!

We have plenty of other nest boxes and hole in our oaks. But this group still decides to pack in. Soon one will become pregnant this spring and will kick everyone else out. Just the cycle that happens. But this group has been extra cuddly and together. Fun to see the difference from litter to litter. Thanks for watching

Momma squirrel looked super happy to come back to her babies. The babies finally fell asleep and she woke them and checked every inch of them to make sure they were fine almost like she worries nonstop when she is gone. What a good momma squirrel. I do know they have many predators to worry about.

In my opinion, the roof is not airtight. the roof should be made of one piece, it does not allow water to pass through, or the roof should be covered with something tight. I have a question: how is your roof, squirrels?
@mybackyardfriends73263 ай бұрын
I understand your concern. But on the underside it had plastic siding barrier, then a small sheet of plywood. Then plastic protecting our cameras. We’ve never once have had an issue with moisture. We just use what we had around and made it work

Hey, I’m trying to find a squirrel house big enough just like yours, I haven’t seen any good ones online, I know that you made yours at home but, if you could recommend a good house, that’s perfect for the camera that you recommended, I would appreciate it greatly. Love the content bro 🙏🏼🔥
@mybackyardfriends73263 ай бұрын
All squirrel houses I’ve seen online are a bit smaller than this homemade one. We specifically made this bigger because all the others were a bit smaller and we had the scrap wood. The size honestly doesn’t matter. Half the the year a dominant female will take it over for her birthing she’ll do twice a year. I’ve bought a few squirrel houses online and been most impressed with the JC wildlife ones if I’m being honest. Squirrel are going to chew and destroy anything you get, but that one has held up best of the ones we have bought. jcswildlife.com/collections/squirrel-houses/products/jcs-wildlife-ultimate-squirrel-house-nesting-box Good Luck! Let us know how it goes David!

there are too many variables, every case, every situation is different, people following all the rules all the time is what has gotten us into the environmental problems we have today. We knew it was wrong to cut down all the big trees, pollut the river but, it was do what we were told to do are loose our jobs. All I know is it's time for change. Evolve into a species capable of taking better care of our environment are we will continue to suffer from the disasters we have caused. The beaver can and will help for free.
