I was wanting to do the same. I made some hot compost. 155 degrees and I was told that I needed to mix it with top soil when growing sweet potatoes in containers. It just seems ridiculous to buy soil or compost. My compost was made exclusively from leaves, coffee grounds, grass clippings, watermelon rinds and other vegetable waste. No manure because I don’t have animals. I do container gardening because i don’t have any space. Any suggestions are welcomed.

Thank you I want to try doing this because I know the regular grid cages when I put my bunnies away they want to get out and start with there teeth and shaking it And I know that's not good for them. So hopefully this helps thank you 😊

I looks cool but there is no way that will stay warm all winter in New York off grid with a wood stove. If your on grid a regular house is much sturdier. I would love a real Mongolian one with all the cool painting on the beams.

You stop it by getting rid of the stove and using a modern heating system.

Will a tall maple tree grow back from a stump? Tornado knocked ours over and we had to cut it down to stump. Two branches with red leaves are growing from my maple tree.. I want to save it tbh but I don’t know how. Would I just cut the branch off and try and plant it and water it or is there something else I could maybe do?

Good idea with the glass. We have several sheets of glass the previous owner left behind when they put the new windows in and we never got around to throwing them out. You gave me a good idea!

Still not good enough. As long as you get your glass dirty and stained sucktion or the air flow is not good enough. I have same issues. This dann thing is like racket sceins. One thing is for sure in my case the easier burnong wood like pine makes higher tempreture quickly and then it runt ok. Bur OBS once the stowe and chimney get cold and kondesation build up, it is freakin nightmare to get it started...almost impossible. Once you use it, use it every day, or don't fired it up cold unless very very dry outside.

I feel your pain. I was with Etsy for 15+ years and got suspended for the exact same reasons. Some of my hits were for not clarifying that it was, "handmade"... my recent hit was over a SOLD item a month before that a customer left in review. The bot picked up the wording, Not fair! I've appealed numerous times with the same ZERO HUMAN response. I've had family suggest I start another store, but for the principle, do I really want to go through this again? Etsy can jump in a lake! I'm back to selling again on Ebay where I had originally started, selling now on Amazon, and started new store on Michaels. I went through my grieving process (sadness, anger, etc) after losing my wonderful store, but now I'm on to new horizons and I'm hoping this experience is a silver lining as I've been wanting to grow my Amazon business, but have been on the fence, and now this experience has forced me to take larger steps! I hope you the best too. Just subscribed!

I felt really bad when the neighbor clearcut all the hardwood trees. Lo and behold shoots are growing around all the red maples I hope they regrow the forest. We have 10 acres of older maples with a nice canopy the saplings have to grow tall to reach for the sun the forest floor is rich in leaf litter it all looks natural thousands of seedlings sprout don.t clear cut please !

Your music choice is freaking amazing homie. Its like this weird neon lofi psychedelic trance...feels just at home if it were from Megaman, the local trap house, or background music for when theyre riding their bikes in Akira. My only critique is that, if it were me, every cut in the vid wouldve been tracers 😂

Don’t neglect the air pressure factor. If the house is airtight, it’s a good practice to crack a window on the windward side of the house.

Per my other comment... a very important piece I forgot. First off, in the comment that follows I assume there is a small problem. Some people are confused about wood stoves. MANY will smoke the house if the door is opened. They are meant to be operated with the door closed. MANY have a baffle that directs the smoke directly forward and "hides" the chimney hold. Of course these are going to smoke if you open the door. Who says you are supposed to be able to open the door while you have a raging fire. I agree, many who have wood stoves can do this, but if you cannot, that does not necessarily mean there is a problem. Simply build a large amount of twigs and small wood pieces before lighting so the door does not have to be opened until its only coals.

Here is what I suggest. First.. every "draft problem" should start with going back to the basics on the entire chimney. That is 90% of what's important and gets 10% of the attention. One 3 foot "right angle" is not the problem (but it exasperated an existing problem.) The Russian stove builders draw smoke up and down 5 times for 20 feet, before it exits the chimney. They have "horizonal runs" through benches for 10 feet with NO UPWARD ANGLE, as do rocket stove makers through cob benches. A good draft can pull a horizonal run NO PROBLEM. The absolute basics are.... does your flex liner or stove pipe go all the way to the top or is part of it a brick or teracota chimney? Some people only run it up 10 feet or so. Not good. Second, is the 6 inches of the stove pipe or flex liner all the way to the top completely round and "clear?" ie... Is it bent or kinked at some point through a fireplace damper for example. Installers will do that sometimes. Most wood stoves have a "plate" or baffle at the top of the firebox that pushes smoke back toward you, and back toward the glass, and partially blocks the entrance to the chimney. You will lose heating but that's better than smoke in the room... , the baffle can be cut smaller (in some stoves, keeping the back part and removing the section that extends toward the glass) or a few holes can be cut or drilled in it so you have more smoke able to go directly up instead of pushed back at you. Finally, a fully insulated chimney solves almost all problems. A 6 inch pipe surrounded by a 8 inch or 10 inch pipe with the space between stuffed with perllite, vermiculite, or mineral wool, sometimes with the first two mixed 5 to 1 with mortar or portland cement creates a draw / draft monster.

Hi I paid a professional to clean my chimney and he used he burn method to burn the creosote off the cap. Just filled it with some paper bags to catch the creosote on fire and then let it burn. What do you think of this method, have you tried it or know if it’s safe and effective?

We are placing a similar floor to your and we were planning on installing the foam boards below the subfloor in between the floor joists. Your approach does have advantages over that. How did you attach the plywood subfloor over the foam board? Is it fastened to the osb below the foam? I assume its not floating. Thanks
