Have been trying this technique now since 05.14.24 and at the start was a pattern of me, doing all for 1-2 days and then for the next 2 days I didn't do anything. That pattern repeated itself 3x until I finally got my pushthrough moment on day 05.26.24. Which I started completing all tasks daily.

Thanks so much for the reccomendations. I would also reccomend to other learners Mazii which I've been using for about 5 years now. It has most of the things we need to learn japanese: dictionary with AI explanations, kanji writing practice, a learners community, jlpt mock tests, grammar learning... Just give it a try 😁😁

Thank you for the video! I’d also like to suggest Immersive Translate. It’s a browser extension that supports a wide variety of languages. I personally use it to watch Netflix every day, which has really helped me improve my language skills. I’ve already learned a lot, and couldn’t be happier with the app.

I like how this explanation doesn't give shortcuts or recommends using romaji. I will watchmore videos and follow (with a 3 year delay) the classes/practice. RIght now there are apps to practice conversation, so I think I'll just do that for talking. Thanks.

I am a "quick study", I can memorize things really quickly in general. But with Japanese you can know all the words and all the grammar by heart and still not understand anything, because you need to really get used to it, especially how people speak in real life. For most, even very fast learners, it takes closer to two years (esp. if you have a job, friends, partner and a life in general) of still intense dedication to get anywhere near "wobbly fluency". There is a reason why the vast majority never get there, it's just really really hard. Most could learn Spanish, Portuguese and Italian to decent fluency in the time it takes to get Japanese to intermediate conversational levels. Still worth it, more than any language I've ever studied. And I even have zero interest in all the anime/manga stuff, I bet if you like that you really can keep the motivation up!

Been learning VERY basic Japanese from Duolingo. When it comes to the writing system, I've got the hiragana mostly down, and am still working on Katakana and Kanji. Main trick for me is to have the hiragana pronunciation turned on when it comes time to do the lessons over meaning, then tell myself what a character looks like to help me remember it. To from Kyouto looks like a roof with a window under it and a B next to it. 4? Looks like a curtained window to me.

really amazing lesson, but if you only had romoji for us "speak only" learners
@ToKiniAndy6 күн бұрын
Glad to hear you found it useful. I have a strict policy of "no romaji". I think even people who never intend to read or write should learn Hiragana and Katakana. It can be done in 3 to 6 hours depending on your resource, and it will make your life much easier down the line (even if you only speak). Romaji tends to re-enforce poor pronunciation, and after you learn hiragana you quickly realize how hard it is to actually read Japanese with roman characters. So, I definitely think it's worth spending the few hours necessary to learn it! 😊
