Very helpful video! But why not do this by removing the shifter rod? Disconnect the U-joint from the gearbox, the pivot connection and remove it. Could it be an easier way?
@HazardGarage17 күн бұрын
Do you mean by removing the entire shift linkage? If so, unfortunately the linkage connects right at that u-joint. The other end goes into the gearbox so either way I was going to be squeezing my hands into that tight space lol. Honestly it would have been much easier if I just thought to use a vice grip from the get-go. 😅😅
@enriquemoraj242314 күн бұрын
@HazardGarage I mean, removing the complete gear shift, including the linkage and the U joint. (see part 35041FG010). I don't know how complicated it can be. I will start following your steps! Torque Solution shifter bushing combo is on the way, hope to replace them without major problems. Thanks a million!

lol yeah theres not much baffling going on inside it. I think another youtuber cut their's open and it was just a tube with some holes, no fiberglass matting. But I'd argue the value might be in the piping. Chop off the muffler and put on a decent $50-100 muffler and you got yourself a good bargain still!

There's different lengths and elbows? What!!! This may solve my issues. The addition of the spacer was causing the P0420 to pop on. We just removed it completely, but if that doesn't work maybe we can try other sizes. Thanks for your pain.
@HazardGarage17 күн бұрын
Yup! If you get P0420 it means too much unburnt fuel is in your exhaust. This is what can happen if your catalytic converter stops working. If you get another CEL that mentions about being 'lean' or anything like it can't get a proper reading, then you need to move the sensor 'closer' to the exhaust flow. Play around with lengths and see what happens. It sucks and time consuming but it might work out.

@HazardGarage28 күн бұрын

@DanielDroegeShowАй бұрын
I have heard a few rumors about these on newer vehicles from other techs, but have not confirmed this info. On newer model cars that use air/fuel sensors instead of upstream O2 sensors are tested by the ECU by periodically sending a rich load of fuel and watching the measurement spike and compare that to the downstream O2 sensor. The downstream will not react correctly if a spacer is installed and it will still throw a code. I would love if someone had a source to this so I can confirm.
@HazardGarageАй бұрын
I cant confirm but I have heard of cars becoming more 'complicated' There is even word that some cars actually use the downstream O2 sensor somewhat in calculating A/F ratios. So I wouldnt be surprised of what you said being true or becoming more true.

Do I need to disconnect o2 sensor connector to put on an o2 spacer? I mean I know the sensor needs to come out to put the spacer on, but do I need to disconnect the sensor from the electrical connector end as well? Will the wires wind up tight if I try to just take out the sensor without disconnecting the wire?
@HazardGarageАй бұрын
you most likely will have to because you'll end up twisting the wire as you try to screw it on. You can try but just know if you twist too hard you can put strain the wires and wear them out or break them.

Hello thanks for your video, i replaced a converter, for a new one, i was getting p0430 with that new converter, the downstream o2 sensor is also new. So bought the L shape mini cat. spacer and now im getting the p2098 code..... jeep liberty 2005.... any advice on what to do ? Thanks
@HazardGarageАй бұрын
in the beginning you had the standard code similar to myself in the video. Meaning your cat wasnt working properly and too much gasses was hitting your sensor. Now it seems like not enough gasses are hitting your sensor. Try taking the mini cat out and seeing if you can get the sensor closer to the gas flow. Just like my car, it was a balancing trial and error act. *this isnt advice, its for entertainment purposes*
@arturobarroso78Ай бұрын
@HazardGarage I'll take the mini cat out of the spacer, hopefully that keeps the light from coming back. If it comes back I'll check what codes it gives me. And play with different lengths of spacers like you said... your video is the best in all youtube, thanks a lot. .. I'll get back to you if I get a light or not, this will help so many people... just for entertainment purposes. Thanks

Did you ever consider putting a ceramic coat so it’s easier to clean?
@HazardGarageАй бұрын
I didn't because I plan on taking the car to the track and don't think the ceramic coating would be able to take the brake temps
@OwenstiАй бұрын
Wanting to do this on my 06 Sti. I want to see how they hold up over time. Debating wether to do this or just get the powder coated.
@HazardGarageАй бұрын
Good caliper paint actually holds up pretty well! So chemically the caliper paint will hold well for years. If you get a lot of rocks in your area, the paint might chip due to that. If you want both chemical resistance AND a thick tough paint resistant to chips, there is a 2K caliper paint but its like $30 a can vs $10. You can find it here: amzn.to/3AGzveo I didn't go for powder coat because I think the heat resistance only goes up to 500F which I was weary if it could withstand track temps. There might be special powders capable of higher heats though but obviously this option is the most $$$. Overall I think it looks amazing for $10 lol and worst case, I can always do powder coat or any other option if anything in the future.

Maximum dish, clearing big brakes, larger lug holes to fit impact sockets etc. Note you most likely will need to do some minor fender work in the rear. I did a slight shave where someone grinded off about half of the fender lip. My rear tires are technically 245 but they are 200tw street/track tires. They fit more like a 255 summer tire. You're implying that seafoam is snake oil, probably because you can't follow instructions on the can. End of the seafoam website. And their KZbin channel. The instructions are extremely clear. 1 oz per quart you got that right Drive 100 to 150 miles, you got that right too Then there's the step you forgot to do, and oil change immediately after driving 100 to 150 miles. Do the seafoam application again 1 oz of Sea foam to 1 qt of oil that should be in the crankcase, drive 100 to 150 me again, then immediately do an oil change.. Am I a personal view on a high mileage car, after you follow the instructions correctly, then repeat the process almost immediately. Because it's a high mileage car. Or you can even follow more instructions on the can and put in 1.5 Oz per quart of oil that should be in the vehicle. Then you should only need to do the whole process just the one time
