Another good preventative mod would be a cylinder 4 cooling mod, helps mitigate the cylinder 4 ring land failure in the EJ's

Thanks for making this video series! The STI hatch came out when I was graduating high school and I have always wanted one but I am struggling to justify it. I have driven a couple over the years and really enjoyed them, but for the price it seems like just buying a new WRX might be a better deal. Double the money but 1/10th the headache. The new engine seems allot more capable as well. What are your thoughts? Have you been enjoying the hatch over your ownership?

Same for me! The hatch came out when I was starting to drive, so it was one of the first cars I started drooling over. With that said, it has been some work (as you have and will see during this build series) to get the car to the condition I want. This car is like 15 years old afterall! But I don't mind wrenching on my cars too much and I am lucky enough to have a reliable daily driver so I can take my time working on it. With a new car you get peace of mind, which if you cant or dont want to wrench on your car, can be everything. Getting an older STi can be amazing but you will have to accept, that it can take work. An older car might not be the exact spec you want, BUT there is value in in the reliability and longevity. In conclusion.....get both! LOL

I suggest getting an SPT exhaust and upgrading the interior bits with GOGO Carbon. I have a fully loaded 2012 STI hatch with 120,000 miles on it's original everything and lemme tell you, upgrading the old stuff is so satisfying.
