Hey guys, going to Ko Yao Yao in November. I noticed you have a drone, what was the process like when you get to Thailand? I heard it’s a lot of hassle. Thanks and enjoying your channel

We loved these islands, hope you do too, you can apply for a licence... Or just be sensible where you get it out, I tended not to fly it in tourist spots and just did it where it was quiet... But no issues taking it into Thailand when we went - have the best time

Hi, thanks for the video. It seems we can kayak to twin lagoon but are there other places you can kayak from the houseboat, any beaches accessible? Thanks.

hey guys, we're about to book this. so for food, you're pretty much just gonna eat what they serve on the boat or did you guys take a boat to go outside of the area?

I don't think you can take a boat... It's them doing the ferrrying there and back. They have an extensive menu so no need to worry about food choices!

Great video and insights mate. I've been to otres many times since 2010... A friend built a bungalows resort right on otres beach at the water... Sadly all gone with development. Just came back today after 8 years and wow im shocked. Its unrecognizable... Very sad the place go so badly ruined. Real shame indeed
@jimcraiggeezer11 ай бұрын
I was there over 10 years ago.. otres 1 or 2 as it was called.. the village was so cool.. 1 bar back then in the village run by Les and Aussie.. sadly no longer with us.. then his mate took it over.. I then returned a year later..the writing was on the wall.. bulldozers were busy.. such a shame.. but, the mighty dollar or yen is king in Cambodia.. so I've not been back since and I can see why..

Talk about white privilige and power. Going abroad, demanding menus in English, bashing city and government for that the local people are doing better than ever. And someone coming from UK slacking local food that is the base of THai food as well. lol Ask you one thing, last time you were there did you see locals playing karaoke and enjoying the beach? I can answer for you,, no they were not. Facts: 1) Sihanoukville has now more tourist than ever. in 2022 and 2023 it's #1 tourist city in Cambodia with over 6 million visitors. 2) The city infra was way way behind of time already back in 2014. All these western resorts on beach were releasing raw sewage to sea killing the sealife. Now it's better as multiple water treatment plants have been built. Also as you stated 2019 the city was full of gridlock of traffic. Hence they future proof the roads that It wouldn't happen again. Phnom Penh good example, they haven't future proof road network and every day it's just huge traffic jam there. And now impossible to do anything as buildings everywhere. Hence big empty roads currently in Sihanoukville 3) Sihanoukville has become 2nd most important city in Cambodia after Phnom Penh financially. Huge factory areas round the city and huge seaport exporting all Cambodian products. It's projected that in some point 2030s Sihanoukville will pass even Phnom Penh as financial powerhouse . 4) Beaches are now actually bigger and public for everyone. Yes everyone. Back in days locals were forbidden to come to the beach so western holiday makers can enjoy the beach themselves. Now locals have took over to beaches and finally can enjoy it. 5) The average salaries have went up in Sihanoukville considerably and now same level or even higher than in Phnom Penh. More jobs created too and population has went up from 70k to 100k in just 8 years.

Thanks for the comments. You make some good points, but these points tend to reflect what I was talking about. Also I loved food i ate all over Cambodia - I struggled to find similar food here, this is my point - we never demand English menus, we would always look and try to use Google translate when not available. However where we stayed, we really struggled to find good local food - and that's my point here. We walked very far trying to find it. Where possible for 6 months we would eat local food. I think I actually mention how nice the beach is and how nice it is to see people enjoying themselves... My point was it wasn't as picturesque as before with the highway running right next to it. If people weren't allowed there before... This is news to me, I wasn't aware .. and I'm glad people can be there now. If locals are making more money this is great. Anyway thanks for watching.... These are only my views and just my thoughts from returning to somewhere I fell in love with.

You guys did well to explore Bangkok and even visit J Fai restaurant. I've been lazy to get in the line. LOL.
