I've believe that this same dedication was contributed to the Thunderbolt and Tornado Rollercoaster probably would still be a landmark for Coney Island 😢😢😢

Thank you SO MUCH...I LOVED IT!! WE had a replica of the New York Cyclone in Houston, TX, called the Texas Cyclone. It was a mirror image reversal of the original Cyclone. Yes, it was a very good ride...but very rough (!!)... and I got all bruised-up the first time that I rode it. I don't think that the seats were cushioned enough like the original Cyclone. My absolute favorite roller coaster was in Houston at Playland Park called "Coaster." It was a 110 ft. tall, out-and-back coaster. I first rode it when I was 12 years old, and it scared the "s###" out of me, but...I LOVED IT!!! It was non-operational in 1962, and the park was destroyed a few years later. At least I have the memories...and today is my birthday. 😂

This was the special I missed on TV! Thanks for posting! Funny that it aired the same year the movie RollerCoaster was released in theaters. And as of my comment, in three years, it will turn 100!! You go Cyclone!! 🙌🏻🎢🙌🏻

I’m Just watching this clip now, with my brother in law - Diarmuid Grainger (he’s the one playing the uilleann pipes in this video)! We’re in his home in Ireland and he just said ‘this clip is bringing back so many wonderful memories! All facilitated by our dear friend Mike Edwards!’ Great stuff!

How I wish that they left the lap bars on the trains as they were then, as the addition of the secondary bar makes the seating way too tight. Painful even. If you're on the heavier side you are literally going to be forced into the locking position by 2 employees pressing down on either side in order to lock the bar against you. The ride existed for decades without the secondary bar, why change it ???

Woke up thinking about Coach Prosser today. Everything that is said in this piece is true and more! When my basketball playing days were over, Skip allowed me to stick around the Xavier program and he invested time in me just like he did in the players on scholarship. He recognized my love for the game and allowed me to be around the team, he even played pick up basketball with me and some of the alumni of Xavier from time to time. He was a great teacher and man in addition to being a great coach. I remember during Xavier basketball practices he would take articles from the news and use those news clippings as life lessons at the beginning of practice. He was truly a unique person that I am grateful to have known and spent time with. Tony Anderson, Ph.D. also known to Coach Prosser as "TNT"

Mike I'm with WTOC-TV in savannah (we're featured in the song). I would like to update it with new video for a special program I'm producing (still use several shots of the band and give on screen credit). I'll send you a draft if you like. Can you email me at [email protected] please?

Great film, Mike! I watched it last year and thought of it today and watched it again. I love the characters and the clothes and the ride of course (but I wouldn't go on it! I'm like the woman who said "I like my stomach in one piece!")

Awesome video, love the CYCLONE. It's hands down the best dam coaster ever. Best described as being in a car accident, it's that rough (love it)! I also saw the Wonder Wheel with it's carriage lights on, that was great too. Unfortunately I never got to experience Steeplechase, but the Parachute Jump is still there and waiting to come back to life one day (here's hoping). Long live New York, long live Coney Island.. I hope this finds you well. Blessings of health, happiness and peace to you, your family and those close to you.

I knew Eric Lowen when I lived and played in Los Angeles and was very aware of his talents. I was sorry to learn about his passing. I remember a song Lowen wrote and sang in his band 20X which I liked very much, called "The Angry Man." If you have an audio or video recording of that song, please upload it on KZbin. I would really like to hear that song again. RIP, Eric Lowen.
