Not even BLUE ORGIN has the capability to land without parachutes and they have ONE BILLION USD invested EVERY Year. I love this concept but I don't think it will ever land like this in the next 10 years.

NASA should have gone with the Vinci engine for the upper stage of SLS. Twice the thrust and half the price of the RL-10 if I recall correctly.

14:25 all that i already know and it will work only if SpaceX resolve the spaceshop rocket. When the cost per kg to orbit is below 1000€/kg. otherwise it will be like today. Can be other company not necesary SpaceX but the cost per kg is important when want to bring tools and robots to orbit.

The ESA space plane got cancelled after being redesigned to less capacity than intended. The Europeans appear to be very late on the starting line. SpaceX has the Dragon capsule that currently takes 4 crew but can configure to take 7 crew into low Earth orbit. Susie only takes 5 crew to LEO. SpaceX most likely will have starship up and running before this concept reusable spacecraft even gets off the drawing board.

Trop peu, trop tard?? 30% de réduction d'émission à effet de serre maximum en utilisation normale alors que chaque français devrait passer de 8 tonnes de C02 en moyenne à environ deux tonnes par an, c'est à dire une division par 4... Il fallait produire un vaisseau avec minimum 75% de réduction d'émission de C02... > Ce navire ne relève pas du tout le challenge... Il est déjà obsolète! > Le spatial français et européen n'est pas du tout à la hauteur des enjeux!! C'est tellement trop peu, trop tard, par des gens au fait de la technique que cela valide les propos de ceux qui disent que l'écologie sera contrainte, subie, violente et moyenâgeuse. > Vous ne valez pas le prix que l'on vous subventionne, sans compter le prix que vous nous coûtez en terme de salaire et en terme de survie humaine et environnementale!

I think the SUSIE is too overly ambitious for ESA. Hermes tried to do too much, and ended up doing nothing. Let’s not repeat the mistakes from the past.

From what we know about Prometheus engine, it sounds unlikely to be competitive with modern re-usable closed cycle engines. I think the EU should start developing a totally new closed cycle rocket engine - or possible even a nuclear thermal pulse engine if we are going to be able to compete with world leaders like the US and China in the future. I would have included Russia, but since their invasion of Ukraine I think they are going to become a failed nation.

It is designed to replace the solid rocket boosters. Using a super-efficient (and therefore super-complex and super-expensive) engine in a booster is a waste of money.

@@gijbuis Especially if boosters are recoverable. The more complex an engine the more service is needed in between runs. Making an engine as simple as possible while retaining a sufficient specific impulse is the way to go. It increases reliability and drives down cost.

Obsolete before launch, Government Induced Bureaucratic Launch System, too expensive, a logistical nightmare made by a bunch of cold war relics without vision. This is proves why the EU is a disaster. If they sent all the money to SpaceX instead, humanity would stand a chance to become redundant and make it to mars before the deadline.
