I have lived in Aylesbury for 44 years and I really don't know why it was voted the 5th worst town to live in 🤷♂️ There are definitely A LOT worse places to live..... Go and have a walk around parts of Luton and see how bad that is. There is nothing wrong with Aylesbury 👍

Diversifying of people has become inevitable in most town and cities across UK.
@drunkencharacinguy479226 күн бұрын
@UnleashDreams This is more than diversification, this is a takeover. The demographic changes in the last twenty years have been excessive and needless. Peterborough has gone from a pleasant, slightly chavvy market town to a third world enclave.

Born and bred Swindonian here. The town centre has been in decline for many years, mostly due to mismanagement by the local council. Recessions and the pandemic hit hard, but the focus by the council is to turn it into accommodation and food outlets, rather than replace the actual retailers who have left. That completely empty side of the Brunel is due to be demolished and replaced with two "skyscrapers" and more "food outlets" and possible office space. I think eventually there won't be an actual town centre for shopping, and I have to say I avoid town myself and only go there when I have to go to the opticians! Swindon isn't much worse than many other towns in the UK to be fair. So many places are struggling and the cost of living crisis is far reaching. But there are some lovely places to explore here, like Lydiard Park, Old Town and Coate Water. And there's shopping centres in other areas of Swindon, like the Orbital and the Outlet Village. There are multicultural areas as well, like Manchester Road (which, whilst I've mentioned it, was the towns red light district. That has apparently moved to Gorse Hill, so I'm told!) The population itself is diverse here too, although it didn't seem it the day you visited. It's worth mentioning as well that the town centre of my youth was brilliant. I grew up in the 80's/90's and there used to be so many unique shops and markets. It's an absolute shadow of it's former self now! It's a shame.
@UnleashDreams27 күн бұрын
Many thanks for your comments ... You born and bred in Swindon and you seem to be the most knowledgeable person in term of Swindon's history. Recessions and pandemic hit some parts of UK much harder and probably Swindon is one of them. Above all the mismanagement of local authority has made the situation much worse. Although I spent a day in the town centre and surrounding area but I enjoyed ... I found the people very friendly , approachable and easy to chat which was absolutely amazing. Reading your comment is very informative. I will definitely consider for my next visit. Many thanks once again.
