Thanks for a very good review👍🤙😄... Have ordered a Fox 105.. I have one spot with very good wind, but VERY bumpy.. Waves comes in around and gets 45-70 degree of the wind. But the waves are to smal and it mixes with high wind makes it impossible go full om a Isonic 87ltr. Have a old Bic Rap 88ltr with some V Its much easier to ride... So I realy look farward to get the Fox now🤩😁

Preparations looks really serious! Thank you for showing us how you practice! I'm very emotional about Luderitz, you, and other woman who participate because there is just few of you who are ready to go all the way down the channel. You are great Vorbild/example and I will show you to the girls in our club. All of us who fall while speed run have some damage and bad memory, it is really painful, but to stop will be even more painful. I wish good race to you and all participants!

Thank you so much for your heartfelt message and your support!! That is really nice of you. It is a very dangerous discipline… each time one goes down the channel, so much can go wrong, and sometimes one can only learn through injuries and mistakes. But, like you say, the journey is so rewarding, one keeps on coming back to improve. Facing these challenges sometimes makes the rest of life feel like a breeze! Thank you for your wishes for this year’s event 🙏😊🤟

Is it only me who thinks they need to make the channel wider - as it stands there's no 'room' for correcting an error!!!
@KarovanTonder2 ай бұрын
No room for errors! The channel is currently about 7m wide. It would become too expensive and labour intensive to make it wider… Water gets pumped into the channel each day so it would also take too long to get the level high enough if it is wider.

What kind of speeds are you reaching? Are you using gps? Wow! And where is this located?
@KarovanTonder2 ай бұрын
Yes, I wear a GPS Coros watch and a GT31 GPS as extra backup. The event also uses its own system to perfectly measure the speeds of the riders to make it official.. so in the end of the day you have 3 readings to cross reference. My best average speed over 500m is 44,6 knots, 2s peak speed of 47 knots.. To set a record, they use your average over 500m, so the little spikes in speed doesn’t count. This is what makes it extra challenging! 🤟😊

@@gipeterpan845 I'd probably be using a 3 1/2 m sail in 35 knots of wind. Holding down those big sails in that much wind is wild. It's no wonder they use weight vests to keep things stable and under control.

Thanks for the in-depth review! I just ordered the Fox v2 95 and a Gasoil CHR X 32cm fin. Super excited to try it out and to use it at Defi Wind next year! Your Fox 95 doesn't seem to have cutouts (some earlier versions did). What is your opinion on that? You seem to be happy without the cutouts. I'm guessing cutouts would raise top speed but make it harder to control

You’re the 2nd pro windsurfer trying to wing foil video that I have come across. I didn’t know you were until I read your channel description. I must say I’m shocked at how bad you both were. If I hadn’t seen the videos and someone bet me, I would bet you guys would hop on and go. Thanks for sharing though. It is eye opening. For those of you wanting to learn or in the process, I watched a video that made a ton of sense. He said walk back and forth on the beach with the kite until controlling it and moving from side to side becomes second nature. The idea is you will then only need to worry about the board when you get in the water.
@DirkOz3 ай бұрын
Rigging with no outhaul tension applied is exactly correct for a lot of sails. I'm an OG, from the earliest days of the earliest one-design windsurfer, that had fibreglass mast, a daggerboard, and teak booms. Hope you have the opportunity to try some of the other sail brands, too. Matching boom component sets, mast stiffness rating for the sails is critical. I'm thinking about getting out on my old F2 sailboard and Stinga slalom again, thanks to your inspirational videos.
