Merry X-mas Dane @zimmsguitar & Sending some ❤ from VT. I own an RG3EXTM1 model, which I aquiered from Trogly’s guitar show (Austin), and it’s one of my best guitars. Ibanez makes great guitars and this one is no acception, but I think that when it comes to modding that Ibanez….. I say “You do you brother Dane”. Don’t change the pickups though cause they’ll match the green/black pick-guard, and definitely keep the tone knob/pot. I’m very interested in taking that Ibanez off your hands, but not sure how to get in touch with you bro.? I ❤the “What’s in the Vault?” section of the video, and you’re doing a great job with your channel. I wish you nothing but the best bro and good luck with your 2nd store🍀.! TY for sharing your time; with restringing your guitars and bringing us viewers on this journey🤘🏻!! Have a Merry X-mas and I’ll see you in the next video, and until next time…. Stay safe, Stay metal, and don’t forget to riff.?! PS: That’s a siiiiick Jeff Loomis Jackson signature 7 string. I need that guitar in my life. Happy Holidays everyone 🎅🏻🤘🏻🥂🎅🏻

Rad, I have a 450DX I picked up cheap that was neglected. I replaced the pickguard, cleaned up the pots and installed duncan pickups then gave it a good cleaning. The ibanez bridge is getting replaced next with gotoh.

What kills me is my Echoplex’s always sounded the best before I had them worked on. When they sounded low budget and low fidelity lol. Another thing is that the degree of the effect can change like the wind. I do feel like there are sweets spots and the threshold of the usable sounds are narrow. Maybe spend time getting different sounds and marking the dials and slider where it’s in that range. What you do with one knob effects the others. Your tech is correct the left dial is best set low and it gives you more range with the other adjustments

Man, I will be 100% honest with y'all, because of all the mass factory closings since the 80's in America, + Bidenomics, everything made here is really outside regular working musicians budget. I got burglarized not long ago and besides a few items, I was forced to start over 🥺😭 So, I had a choice: spend all spare $$ and buy one pedal per week, 1 guitar per 6 mo/, sharing amps w/friends for now thankfully, and try to build up all my cables, patches, accessories or try something wild like TEMU. Well, so far I bought an awesome SonicCake 10-band EQ, Ahaji Soul Eater Flanger, and Ahaji Steel Roar boost/distortion pedal. Got all for $100 and they're absolutely banging! In fact the distortion has more gain than you could ever want just past ½ way (tastes differ) but the EQ and Flanger are great too, actually they're some of the most sold products on the website. Also, a little $35 practice amp didn't get here and they refunded me with just typing in what happened on the website! So, I'm trying some new pots and PU's on this Firefly guitar I bought for $200 and its almost tied with my Vintage Epi SG I had at my Mom's house that wasn't stolen. Anyway, so far so good, TEMU gets a lot of hate and I have been told back in the day a few years ago they sucked pretty hard but I ain't making no $$ for sharing my experience and I'm glad for TEMU because I'm back in the game and people are asking me about how to get my tone, lol, I tell em first spend 75% less money! Merry Christmas y'all. Dec 24, 2024

It just occurred to me, Dane, that if those Dunlop strings are really long, they might be good for extended length guitars -- like baritones and multiscales, and Bass VI style guitars.

Back in early 200s I was buying Dillion guitars. I had a beautiful blue quilt top PRS copy (model DR500) that even had the PRS bird inlays. PRS threatened to sue if they didn't change so Dillion switched to a military style bird. I should have kept that guitar. I also had a DR500 in cherry sunburst PRS copy (with the military bird inlays). Also had a light cherry burst (almost like a tea burst) DR500. All had tremolos. I had a black hard tail PRS copy (Model DR510) with abalone binding around the body and a blue quilt top LP copy (DLP650). The Dillion guitars I still have are a blue strat copy (DS100) that has HSS configuration but the humbucker is actually 2 single coils mounted close to each other and have their own height adjustment screws. I have a white LP copy (DLP625) that I played maybe 10 times. It sits in its case waiting for the day someone wants to pay a small fortune for it. lol And I have a green quilt top (DLP650) that I put DiMarzio pickups in. ToneZone in the bridge and AirZone in the neck. Both are set up for coil tapping. I also added gold hardware because gold goes better with the green than the chrome did. After leaving a review of my green LP on Harmony-Central, a few months later Dillion started offering the LP copies with gold hardware and coil tapping pickups. All of my Dillion guitars were made in Korea. They did have a cheaper line produced in Vietnam that they called their "V Series". Dillion Guitars from Canada is not part of Dillion USA.

I have a Donner on order but I much prefer the colouration of the Firefly. Unfortunately, there are no Fireflies available and the Donner was WAY less expensive. It's kind of ironic because I'm sure that the Donner really is the better guitar. It'll also be the first guitar I own with a maple instead of rosewood fretboard. I agree though that for budget guitars, playbaility is KING and the make-or-break feature of any budget guitar is the neck (which means neck, fretboard and frets). Everything else is secondary, especially tone. I would actually choose a guitar that feels and looks better that sounds AWFUL because I know that I can put in good pickups for not a lot of money. I can do the same thing with tuners as well. Changing the feel of the guitar however, there's no inexpensive way to do that. As for sound, it depends on what you want. Personally, I prefer having humbuckers because I can always wire in a split switch if I want to in order to get a single-coil tone. Single-coil pickups can only ever be single-coil pickups and you'd have to put in hotrail humbuckers if you wanted humbuckers. Those work fine (My Godin Session has them) but it's an extra expense that I'd rather not incur if I don't have to.
