Any particular reason you hate them? I don’t really like the feel of coated strings, but I put black strings on a guitar I use for slide, and it looks great, sounds great, and all that. (Although it is tricky to see the string properly against the black headstock on that guitar. So I won’t be doing that again)

I have sweaty palms and I find that it helps with glossy necks. It almost acts like a lube. I do prefer the feel of satin necks , but I don’t have any issues playing with glossy ones.

I know this is years old,but what i think you have here is an 1990 Fender Mexico or Korea before the Mexican factory was aloud to sell fenders or when Korea was making Fender knockoffs,i have a 1969 tele that’s just as mysterious and they sold them under the Squire name but put USA on them as at the time they were considered bootleg. I think few of these were made and expected to hit the US. I think it’s awesome!

Coated strings can make your guitar noisier because you’re no longer making contact with ground through the strings.

Those are made by DR. I believe they were originally made to use with the Rocksmith guitar video game. I've used them before, they're actually not too bad.

I have seen other luthiers remove the fret at the body joint and insert foam cutters through small hole that are drilled about 1/4 to 3/8 inch from each edge the fingerboard into the neck joint pocket or dovetail joint to soften the glue there also. Others use steam but Ted Woodford who is a master luthier from Canada uses foam cutter. I think he said he got the idea from another luthier named Ethan Davin. I am not sure on that spelling.

I put a blue set on my dean from hell and have to say that the coated strings don't have the same new string metallic sound like regular strings. They sounded like old dead strings quickly and the coating came off where I pick and left blue crumbs all over my pickups. I won't be using them anymore but they looked cool for the first few minutes.

i have a '77 greco les paul i bought in japan...it had a BLACK pick guard tho' wonder why this 1 is white? PLUS mine had diff. volume knobs ( this 1 looks just like gibson knobs) my greco had black 1's ( going to keep it that way..) BUT the gibson knobs look better , Also the pickups..& rest of the metal pieces were gold plated on mine....i Also need to replace atleast 1 tuneing knob ( also gold) but no idea how to find an exact match. to keep it 100% greco looking..parts and all. I did take it in for a guitar TEC tuneup...and MAN...the string action is every bit as LIGHT and good as a Gibson!! lol i still have the original japanese Price card insind my case that came with my guitar at the time ..In YEN ofcourse. :) i can not belive 1 of these in great condition is only going for $650.00-Ish dollars.... oh well, still much more that i paid for mine at the time...thanks for the lesson :) +1

epiphone has NEVER made a good guitar.

There are so many products out there that could solve this. Everyone makes a roll out protection mat and blocks. Much safer than a door mat.
