Uhhhhhh.....no. Wrong boat, wrong tide. Not a "daily" event. Lucky to escape alive and without a major spill.

Thanks Peter! My MIL Colleen Seidelhuber has fond memories on the Mary-Mar-Anne/Euphemia as a small child with her grandfather who had her built to take his family on predicted races and won the Capital to Capital Olympia to Juneau race that year! As she turns 90 this year, know it would be a thrill. So glad she’s still enjoying those beautiful waters thanks to you.

Why didn't they go through at slack tide?

Ive Worked on tugs for 20 years. This is an absolute clown maneuver. I dont care if he does it like this every day as some other commenters have mentioned. His time is running out. Any real mariner with towing experience can see multiple reckless and incompetent things happening in this video.

Hi Peter. Wondering about Alder II and why you no longer have her?
@peteralexharvey2 жыл бұрын
The boat house came down on it during a storm. No real harm to the boat (it held up the flattened boathouse). Marina owner did not want me to build a new boathouse (he was phasing them out) so I sold the boat to a couple in Powel River. I purchased Merva and since then I switched again. I now own Euphemia II. I was able to get one of the two remaining boathouses - so all good again. Saw Alder II in Lund (Jacks Yard) last spring. I think its kept in Lund by the same couple from Powel River.

No deckhand? This is a complete shit show. I wonder if they even bothered to wait for slackwater. I hope they got fined. The master should lose his license. Fenders down is a rookie mistake and that vessel doesn't even have enough hull to dig in.

I was mate on a Foss tug in Alaska one winter....I've had the experience of the barge trying to pass us a time or two....you learn things up there you never knew you needed to know. Like don't lash the the fuel truck down next to the powder magazine, for one. -Veteran '66-68

Hey Peter, hope you're doing well. I'm curious to go hiking here, how did you get there?
@peteralexharvey4 жыл бұрын
You leave the paved road in Tuwanek and head up as if you are going to Tetrahedron Provincial Park. There will be a narrow track that peels off to the left. If you come around a bend to the right and approach a bridge then you probably just passed it. This narrow track takes you around the back of Mount Richardson and then up it. There is a sketchy bit near the top that 100% requires a good 4w4. The further you go up the harder it will be to turn around or even make room of a passing vehicle. The spot shown in the video is about a 40 minute hike from the end of one of the dirt tracks at the top. You know you have found the correct sport to hike when you see an overturned outhouse just a few meters along the trail. There will be one turn off on the trail (as I recall) - stay to the right. If you follow this trail to the top you come across the 3" round brass marker in a rock (its basically on the trail) marking the top of the mountain. Go 10 or so meters further and start curving around to the right and descending (slightly). You should come across this spot.

Guys lucky rookie move. Hope he learned to wait for slack an ride it at calmer time at start of ebb/flood not run it at full rip in a under powered crew boat. At least pull up current an let it carry you through then you can use all power for steerage. Hope he brought a change of shorts.
